The Soviet Union wasn't defeated by people sitting on their hands waiting for miracles from above. It took a lot of guts and sacrifice of people right here on Earth.

The is an excellent article in Reader’s Digest (May1996?), about the close partnership between Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II in defeating the Soviet Union. I looked for a link to it for you, but didn’t find it. In any case, I sure wish you would find it at your library and read it. It just might have a profound impact on your opinion of him.

I do like the current Pope and my attacks on him are more at the institution of the Papacy, not the man.
