Race,
I think the many articles, columns on pro-Americanism in Iran and their fight for democracy, human rights and secularism should have swayed you for the Iranian people as good people and to hate the regime. I'm surprised it took actually being there in a crowd of Iranian-Americans and talking to them to change your mind, but i'm very glad that you got to hear the truth and know the truth.
Now i just wish the media was a little quickier in reporting the truth. heh!
Thanks race--wonderful ping!!

By comparison it's a small thing, but photos from the Seattle demonstration last night are now live at:

Oh, No, I started the change 3 years ago, at the 20th anniversary of the Crash in Desert-1.
http://rescueattempt.tripod.com that s my site, I was off the coast then. When we had the anniversary, I just had a release of emotion, and just thought of all the peole who fought i WWII who went back to battle sites, met old enemies, and how they all stopped hating and all..
I guess that is what happened to me.
When me and Kashi started writing, I didnt know what to think, but after a while, I was convinced he was real, and then, that is when I really stopped wondering.
Yesterday, that was just fun, and all the people, they were wonderful.
And some of those Persian babes are pretty cute...(sigh)

Beautiful photos and great report, Race.
I was surprised to see people demonstrating with their faces covered up. About 3 or 4 people. I asked one of them if it was because of friends or relatives back in Iran who might get into trouble, and he said, "Something like that." One guy wanted to cover his face before I videotaped him, also. I had already taken his picture, but assured him it was just a private videotape.
Also I saw only two women wearing hejab.
Some of the slogans on posters: "Free All Political Prisoners in Iran," "No Reform--Just Referendum," "Let's Stop It" (the one with the mushroom cloud/mullah).
Chants: "Democracy for Iran," "Human Rights for Iran," "Stop Terrorism," "Referendum," "No Hezbollah in Iran," and the one that for some reason was the most moving (to me): "Iran, Iran, just Iran."

Im reviewing the tape now, you did a great job with the camera!

Thanks for wonderful photos from Seattle demonstration, Eala.Any Comments?
Yes. I thought it was too bad that more Americans didn't turn out to join them. As some of the signs point out, we have common interests in seeing Iran free. But those of us who did turn out were made quite welcome (even if some of us were lost when the chants were in Farsi).
