The misses and I are looking at some nice 9mm's though.......... . . . could I humbly suggest that you take a look at some .45s too? A 1911A1 or variant, or maybe the Sig Sauer. When Colonel Colt speaks . . . people listen. :-D

Not to mention that the .45ACP is a far better 1 shot stopper than the 9mm, hands down.
Plus its designed(ok, a long time ago), used(until our military went "wonder-nine" wacky) and built(mostly) right here in the USofA...
The 9mm parabellum is German...
