JEDDAH, 9 July 2003 — Efforts are being made to dissuade Saudi men from marrying foreigners.

Al-Riyadh daily said the Ministries of the Interior and Information had teamed up to create a television program called “The Drawbacks and Problems of Marrying Foreigners” to drive their point home.

“It’s not true that marriages to foreigners are less costly or happier than marriages to our girls,” the newspaper quoted an Interior Ministry official as saying. “Foreign women bring with them a lot of problems to the home and society.”

Non-Saudi women often find it difficult to adapt to the social environment of the Kingdom. But steep dowries discourage many Saudi men from marrying their compatriots.

Many marriages between Saudis are arranged by their families. Husbands often have to pay for elaborate wedding parties.

One suggestion, pass out free peroxide for Saudi girls. Saudi males love blonde hair. Oh, and also, dump the dowry business. There's only so many camels and donkeys that can be exchanged for the brides.

It's especially bad when the Saudi man removes his bride's veil and finds that the camels and donkeys were cuter.

Let them get a taste of what the American divorce industry can do them and they will stop marrying U.S. women.

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund is then due. The team is about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopps them and decrees that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all,if the refunds are made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the wealthiest ticket holders. That would be unconscionable!

If they're serious about stopping marriages to foreign women, all they have to do is make it clear the Kingdom will continue to regard the spouse as a citizen of her country of origin, with all of the rights of travel, custody, property, etc. that she had at home. Enforceable. Beat the American wife and get arrested for felonious assault. Don't let her and the kids take a trip to the US, be arrested for false imprisonment.

Ya got that one right. Sorry, but I have very little sympathy for idiot women who fall for a Muslim guy. If they had done a little research, they would find out that they are considered chattle, have only a few token rights and that their children would be considered sole property of the husband and his extra large extended family.

Hey, 25+ years ago when I was in college, I had enough brains to stay away from those learing, creepy camel jockeys who were arrogant and obnoxious even back then. They made my skin crawl.

They probably watched "The Sheik" or "Lawrence of Arabia" during a formative period! Not many sights more inspiring than young Omar Sharif on a horse ... but then, he's an Egyptian Christian.

It'll take more than peroxide. These women need nose jobs and electrolysis, otherwise the veil is just a blessing. Cattiness aside, it's better that Saudi men marry their own. Marry someone who's been raised as a virtual slave, someone who grew up hearing "You can't hurt a woman's honor; they are born without it."

You said it. I don't care if it makes me racist or ethnocentric or what. I do not care for Middle Eastern men. Period.
