Elephant logo criticised for lack of condom (?!?!???)

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thai community groups want to use a logo featuring two elephants having sex for next year's World AIDS conference in Bangkok but the plan has been criticised by health authorities because the bull is not using a condom.

"The logo fails to convey any meaning," Dr Sombat Tanprasertsuk of the Thai government's disease control department was quoted as saying in the Nation newspaper on Tuesday.

"There is only one message which people will get: that community workers are obsessed with sex. And it doesn't show the male elephant wearing a condom."

The official logo for the meeting depicts three elephants standing in line. Elephants are Thailand's national symbol.

I hate to sound demented but could you post a picture of this symbol? I don't understand how one can tell that the bull is not wearing a condom if they are in the act.

How dare they assume that the elephants are heteros_exual. (Was once told the equivalent of this during a summer in the UK.)

(On a serious note: such an assumption seems a little less reasonable than usual at a conference focusing on an ailment that is disproportionately prevalent among non-heteros_exuals.)
