It is but a blink in history and the Grace of God that we are not all living in an Africa of our own.

Amen. Ask a moslem yugoslav, or an orthodox one (after we stepped in)just how close to the surface this kind of thing is.

Not especially religious, but it does make you wonder about the apple etc..

Agree completely. Colonization is the answer, was the answer.

In India last week, my wife told me that some ungodly number of little girls died because they had become an economic burden for their parents.

As an adoptive father, I just couldn't believe it. I want to say the number was 15,000 girls.

In the last newsletter I got from our adoption agency, there was 4 domestic adoptions (2 were special needs) and there were 30 chinese and russian adoptions. What about India as a source of adoptees?

We should offer to repatriate any descendent of any nation that has a beef with the way they've been treated here in the big bad slave nation of the US. Sorry to you and yours, here's your ticket, have a nice life.

The only thing that will save Africa is garrisons of European or US troops. That isn't going to happen. The other thing would be prayer. Now with that, anything is possible.

Thank you for posting this, Valin. ... God I'm glad my fellow American made it out safely from such a nightmare. As my fellow American, he is precious to me. He's black? So what! He's my fellow countryman ... and as the daily news is attesting, WE are an endangered people. God I'm glad he's in a safer place. He is a treasure of US, for he gets it!

When Strasser entered the meeting hall, sporting his now-trademark sunglasses and his camouflage battle fatigues, the crowd of mostly middle- and upper-class black Americans went wild with cheering, swooning from the women, some hoots, and frenzied applause. Sitting in that hall, you might be forgiven for thinking Strasser was a music celebrity instead of a puny boy-dictator.

These black Americans were obviously more impressed with the macho military image Strasser cut than with the fact that he represents all that is wrong with Africa--military thugs who take power and thwart the continent's fledgling efforts to move toward democracy. The chanting and hooting was a disgusting display, and to me it highlighted the complete ignorance about Africa among America's so-called black elite.

I copied this and printed it, hoping one day to show some of these 'black American' Afro-Centric students/faculty what Africa is really all about.

It won't change the fact that Africa is my ancestral homeland and I accept it for what it is, both good and bad. I'm one Black American that can just as easily think of myself as "African-American," or even "African."

Nobody expects Asians to call themselves "Yellow," so don't expect me to limit myself to being called just "Black."

It should be. Lord of the Flies was 'recommended reading' when I went to college. However, it was without any 'reference' to real life, therefore didn't have the same imperitive, though it is also compelling writing.
