Iranian Alert -- DAY 30 -- LIVE THREAD PING LIST [Riots erupt]

Today is July 9th. The day Iranians have been waiting for. The next 24-72 hours may be the most important in Iran's history.
It is noon there, at the time of this post, and already we are hearing of people in the streets. The regime's security forces are out in force. This is very encouraging as most of the demonstrations thus far have been at night to take advantage of the cover of dark.
We have heard of riots in the Pars region of the city of Tehran. We have yet to hear of strikes. We are receiving phone calls from Iran but they are few. The regime is cutting off the calls to the United States as soon as they find them.
We are continuing to hear of the regimes jamming of the broadcasts in much of Iran and Europe. But apparently the signals do get through from time to time.
The people of Iran have chosen July 4th because four years ago, the regime brutally attacked peaceful student demonstrators while in their dorms. The result was the loss of life and liberty of hundreds of students, many of which are still unaccounted for.
Iran is a country ready for a regime change. If you follow this thread you will witness, I believe, the transformation of a country. This daily thread provides a central place where those interested in the events in Iran can find the best news and commentary.
Please continue to post your news stories and comments to this thread.
Thanks for all the help.

My wife is about to appear on NITV to be interviewed about women in America as compared to the lives of women in Iran. The signal is up in Iran. She looks very cute. She wants to share her heart with the Iranian women.

Thank you Eala! What you did, will remain in our minds and hearts. Thank you America!
BBC Persian section webpage confirmed clashes in streets of Tehran last night.
We expect the regime to tighten security.
I have heard from a security man that, They have been told to be in stand by 1 week before the 9th of July.
He was talking to his mate, didnt know that I can hear him.
I could not use the road I have come from, I changed my direction... Heavy Police presence in street was visible.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030709/wl_nm/iran_protests_dc_4 There were also sporadic clashes and protests in the city of Mashad in North-East of Iran. Shopkeeprs had been told to close their stores and shops. People of Mashad clapped and whistled in order to show their protest against the clerics. The street were full of Police and Islamic Militias. (( NEWS Source: Democratic Front of Iran's Webpage in Farsi, Mashad branch ))
Mashad is the 2nd largest city of Iran.

This is very important!
I realized that I may have never explained the source of this current struggle. Your question raises an extremely important point. Lets review it.
...How many know that the Ayatollah Khomeini was not even Persian? His Mom and Dad were from India!<
Not to mention he took refuge in Iraq and also... you guessed it... in France...
Something most Americans do not understand about the situation in Iran is that the Iranian revolution was stolen by Arab clerics lead by Khomeini.
Their anger started with him when his first words upon arriving in Iran, when asked how he felt being in Iran, he said he felt "nothing."
Persians as a people are extremely proud of the nation, its history, language, and culture. Their pride is similar to most Americans in this regard.
But the Arab clerics hate Persian culture, history, language, even the idea of a Persian nation. To run the government the clerics have had to import Arabs from all over the middle-east to take positions of power, such as Judges, governors, etc. Persians fought the Arabs for centuries and therefore they hate having Arabs lead them in their own country.
For instance, when your child is born in Iran today, the government gives you a book with Muslim names to choose from. You are not allowed to give your child a Persian name. The clerics hate it when the people sing nationalistic songs. They hate any kind of nationalism. This is because the clerics don't speak of Iran as their nation. They are trying to build an Islamic nation, which in their minds will someday extend to all four corners of the earth.
This kind of Islam has irritated the Persian people to the extent they are willing to throw off this regime. They no longer want an Islamic Republic. Therefore they are now looking for an alternative. The most popular of which is our secular democracy. They see our system works and theirs does not.
This has a lot to do with the struggle we are witnessing in Iran today.

I wish we weren't all on different times. It makes it difficult to keep and audience. This is something to repeat tomorrow when more people are awake. It is very important. Also the NBC satellite story, unless someone has already posted it elsewhere.
Thanks for all your work today.
Look forward to more news in the morning.

Re #291
That is exactly true.
This is what I have ever said, Our government is not Persian or Iranian, They are arabs, they are from Arabian ancesstors. Persians are different with Arabs. We do not even speak Arabic, We have our own language which is Persian. We ever fight with this kind of Islam and We do not want a religious system to rule us.
I would like to draw your attention to what RaceBannon, Eala and Valin posted.
They were completely true.
VIVA PERSIA...!
Race, Eala, I would like to re-post your great jobs, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
