Can't keep the black folks on the plantation if they get a voucher and a REAL education!

President George W. Bush, during a visit to a Washington, D.C., charter school on July 1, spoke out in favor of school vouchers. He said, "I want (Washington, D.C.) to become a model of excellence so that when people see the entrepreneurial spirit alive and well in D.C., they realize they can do the same in their own communities." He has called for $75 million to be spent on a national "school choice" incentive plan.
If the Republicans will stand on their hind legs and make the Democrats pay politically for opposing choice in DC, $75 million is chicken feed. The benefit to the nation of empowering blacks to vote Republican--of deconstructing political segregation--could be enormous.

Hee, hee, hee. How are the Dems gonna keep 'em down on the plantation if this goes through?

Good news for families who don't, can't or won't homeschool their children. Competition is good. The majority of public schools have failed inner city and suburban students, IMHO. The administrators and unions are not in the education gig "for the children," otherwise there would have been some improvement instead of escalating poor performance over the years.

Can't blame the demise of public schools totally on the Pubbies, either. (Hey, we had a Dem Pres for 8 years not too long ago.) It's a socialist/liberal problem that no amount of money thrown at it (aside from more bucks for administrators whose numbers and salaries have skyrocketed in the past 30 years at the expense of students and teachers) is gonna fix at this point in time.

Bet the NEA is going bonkers...

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

As Ann Coulter pointed out in her book "Treason", when President Clinton vetoed the bill to allow vouchers for DC kids -- he demanded got an exception for residents of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...for Chelsey! That meant the Clintons got school district funds to help pay for Chelsey's private school.

'The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies recently reported that 60 percent of African-Americans support vouchers. In contrast, 69 percent of African-American elected officials break with the overwhelming majority of their constituents to oppose them.'

Now this strikes me as odd.
