A new Conservative Film Institute has begun operations in Dallas, Texas. The American Film Renaissance Institute (AFRI) will provide resources to conservative, pro-American documentary and feature filmmakers. AFRI will hold the ONLY conservative film festival in the country next March. A special awards ceremony, The Ronald Reagan Awards for Cinematic Excellence, will be held, and will give awards to filmmakers whose work promotes freedom, individualism, and patriotism. If you can, please support this noble effort.

McClintock. Metropolis (in a libertarian way). Casablanca. The Stranglers of Bombay (OK, I'm stretching here). Cherry 2000. The Dogs of War. The Nightmare Before Christmas. Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Rankin-Bass version)

O.K., now I'm just getting weird...

I just love these rambling threads!

"We Were Soldiers"-Definately belongs on the list.
"The Ten Commandments"-an obvious choice.

Another movie, in my opinion would be "The Power of One". The story is about Apartheid in South Africa. But it also shows how one person can make a difference, wich is conservative. Morgan Freeman stars and is great in his role and so is everyone else. It's an outstanding movie. At the end of there is a scene where the South African children are being taught to read and they are reading from our Constitution- "all men are created equal..".

If you haven't seen it , it's worth a trip to the video store (if you can find it) But warning: This is DEFINATELY NOT A KIDS MOVIE. It has some very graphic and violent scenes.

My pick would be Conan The Barbarian. Watch it with the knowledge that Milius is a conservative. The villain, Thulsa Doom, is a tyrant who acts under the guise of new age spirituality. His followers are a parody of 'flower-power' hippies who indulge in orgies and homosexual acts. There's also the notion of the mob as bad and the individual as good (although Conan gets help along his journey, ultimately he must face Doom alone), with the individual triumphant.
