It's a highly spun subject. Usually the "anti-" meeting propaganda skirts the issue whether there was any meeting, but quibbles about the date - finding any mistake implies no meeting ever took place. Or quibbles what meeting with Al-Ani was when.
Someone even got the NYTimes to lie and write that Vaclav Havel said there was never any such meeting. He came out immediately and said this statement was false, and his information was that Atta did meet with an Iraqi agent. Maybe they passed a vial or two between themselves...
