Is the core issue here the possibly apocryphal CIA advisor and the Capitol Blue article, or the use of faulty information by the administration to justify the liberation of Iraq?

It appears that the issue of the use of some faulty information has been established. The President’s spokesman confirmed this fact.

This issue of this thread is clearly the journalistic integrity of Capitol Hill Blue.

Those are two different issues. This thread is about the former.

The core issue of the liberation of Iraq was never that they tried to purchase Uranium. That was but one thing mentioned in the State of the Union address. As such, the uproar over that is merely a tempest in a teapot.

The core issue here is the possibly apocryphal CIA advisor and the Capitol Blue article.
