I am paraphrasing here but according to an article in "Physiological Behavior" Drs N.A. Togiyama and A. Adachi report that lab animals exposed to the "excitotoxins" ( a drop on their tongues)cause the lab animals pancreas to release insulin...somewhat like Pavlov's dog....http://www.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/130/4/971S
