When the US was founded it was not illegal for an adult to have sex with a 12 year old (or even as young as 9 in some of the original states). Since that time, AOC has been rising steadily. It is now 18 in many states.

either way, even if you are correct, those were MAN/WOMAN marriges sex, not someone buggering your child.

Better do some more looking up what the laws were, in Ct, it was punishable by death to not worship the God of the Bible too, in the early 1600's. So, I have serious doubts sex with someone under the age of puberty was legal.

A look at this chart shows 43 states which have an AOC UNDER 18 (at least with parental consent).

36 clearly under 18, 7 more that permit sex below age 18 with parental consent, and another 8 with an aoc ONLY 18 and above (DC is noted separately).

This chart could be out of date but I would expect it to date from at least the 1990s (when it would have been put online).
