Since when do 24% of adults purchase tobacco products? I question the sampleing. It is an interesting correlation though. I wonder if it would survive a better sample.

Well, remember that little "discount" card many of us have...you scan it at the register for a few cents off each item...well, there you go!

For this few cents discount [on items which are probably marked up to compensate] you have to sell your soul by filling out a card with your name, address, phone, and email address.

Now, insofar as EVERYTHING is bar coded these days, they can use that scheme to keep inventory ordered and the shelves stocks, to see what is selling and what isn't, but also TO SEE WHO IS BUYING WHAT.

If they were a mind to[Southern expressing meaning 'inclined to'], they could furnish anyone with a list of every item you have bought since shopping at that store...including tobacco.

The sad part is, we're stuck with it. From cradle to grave they can track anything they want to about us, i.e. income, medical, purchases, et al.

Pathetic, ain't it?
