I was thinking the same thing. From what he said, sounded like he was looking to get fired (contract problems, and he wanted out perhaps?) or he was looking for the publicity.

Savage could have wreaked a lot of havoc upon the liberal camp had he only been able to refrain from taking the bait from an obvious set-up.
