I have only listened to Savage for about the past two months and only off and on. He struck me as unbelievably shallow and just a mean guy who often would never allow a caller to flesh out their opinion before slapping them down with non sequiturs and verbal abuse. He was the anti Rush.

Yep. I saw his show once and that was it for me.

I listen to Savage a bit more often than this, but IMO you got it exactly right. He actually reminds me of so many people on the left, who likewise go nuts at the first sign of any serious disagreement with their views.

I heard him question an engineer about fuel-cell cars. He didn't allow the caller to finish a single sentence, and his questions showed that he had no idea of any of the technical matters involved, although most of his questions started with an assertion that he knew all about it. The discussion wasn't political, but purely technical. There was no anger involved; Savage simply didn't have a clue how to carry on a conversation.

You nailed it. It was my impression when I first heard him at least a year ago. At first I thought I was just getting him on a bad night. Once I realized it was his MO I stopped listening.

He is an embarrassment to conservatives, but he’s not really a conservative. He doesn’t just spit anger as so many do, he spits hatred, hence the “get aids and die” comment, which is a benchmark example of what is wrong with his show.

He is the liberals dream “conservative.” The only thing missing is the rusty, jacked up 4x4 with a gun rack and “big breasted chrome woman” mudflap weights.

I can't believe I actually agree with you on something. :-)

When I first tuned him in, and I am right of Reagan, he offended me. But I listened because he has some entertaining attributes but then with time I saw his genius and his intellect. He does get short with callers but at times he lets them hang themselves as well. I do think he is too short but his program is not a debating society, such a program only with goods debates would not get ratings like Savage does.
