Jumping in here, the mistake the Dixie Chicks made regarding free speech was this: During the Clinton (feh!) years, any leftist in the entertainment business had unlimited approval available to them from the media. (See: Murphy Brown, etc.)
Exit Clinton, Exit Gore. Enter President Bush. 9-11.
So, now the Dixie Chicks have their say, without anyone putting duct tape on their mouths. But this time, the marketplace responds. They do not receive universal acclaim for their words. They never counted on having to take responsibility for their words and actions ... and took that to mean their right to free speech was violated.
They were wrong - they were completely shocked by the public response to their statements, and could NOT square that with what they had grown to expect ... what they believed they were entitled to: approval without question.
THAT, I believe, is the issue here. Words have meanings. If you catch flak, lose your job, lose your gig because of what you say, the very least you can do is take personal responsibility for it. And then go from there.

Well, you could also ping him. He's a Freeper, and is extremely supportive of FR on the air.
I heard that show open, and I do agree that Savage handled himself unprofessionally. I do believe that you can get your message across strongly and effectively without getting yourself booted off the air for crossing the line.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I voiced my non-listenership directly to the Operations Director at KSFO.

Thanks. In the long run, if we do nothing but flail, we won't get anything of substance done.

Thanks, weegee! =^)

Baker still couldn't win the series!
I guess Candlestick (I refuse to call it 3COM), and PacBell park were both 'too cold??'

Good, at least you are backing up your position. There are plenty of other shows that can be carried.
I don't listen to 950AM KPRC in Houston because of the management changed that wanted to end conservative activism (right as a close mayoral election was approaching) and talk of religion. The hosts that replaced the former staff were all a bunch of loud mouths (I think that they had that Henry guy on before they replaced him with Mike Savage).
Rush is normally the only thing I listen to on that station now. The old staff went to 700AM KSEV. We don't have to support what we find repugnent "just because it's the only thing there" or the "only conservative voice".
I have put on Mike's show at times when I've been driving around at night because he is opposite left wing Pacifica hate radio and even 700AM plays Alan Colmes then and can be quite rude to his guests (rude but not unsulting like Mike). I don't "embrace" what Mike is saying (and certainly don't feel compelled to do so just because he is a conservative) but I put him on for a change of pace from the other talk radio that is on in Houston at that hour.
Other times I'll just listen to music (radio or CD).
If his show is gone it won't change my life. I liked G.G.Liddy more (mostly for his news and review which he later splintered down to the top of the hour reports); with FR I still get to see a lot of news articles and get commentary on it.
Liddy lost his show locally because of pressure after OKC even though he was not connected to that horrible event.
Political correctness is shutting down voices (AIDS is politicized even though it is a disease like SARS, ebola, brain cancert, or leprosy).
A double standard also exists. I would ask that anyone who pushes for getting Michael Savage off the air also contact the Cubs, that station in Florida, NPR, etc. etc.
Don't remain quiet on the liberal missteps. The media already is all too ready to give them a pass.

Yeah... Livan shouldn't have been in there. That was the managing mistake for THAT game.
Jerome Williams, tho, is extremely impressive.
It was NEVER 3COM, always the Stick. And I love PacBell Park. Anchor Steam and garlic fries, mmmm!

Great post, very thoughtful - thank you.

I won't. I'm a regular caller when I am able, and email FR links to the local KSFO hosts, as well as Hannity's producer.

P.S. - I was sorry to see KNEW replace Larry Elder with Savage's show. I know the reasons for it, but I believe that we'll see Larry on the air in SF soon. He is smart, passionate, and effective.

Michael Weiner,AKA,Michael Savage,is a homosexual pretending to be against homosexuals. He's another one of these former left wing radicals pretending to be conservative to make money with it. There are incriminating letters he wrote to the communist homosexual junkie beat-poet Allen Ginzburg, with whom he was friends. These letters can be found in the archives of Allen Ginzberg's personal papers.

"Michael Savage,is a homosexual....." Says who, besides you?
To: Robert Drobot
Together type the names Michael Savage, and Allen Ginsberg into your search engine, and read some of the material you find there. Michael Weiner's letters to Allen Ginsberg are in the archives of his personal papers. Why do you think Savage was hanging out with homosexual junkie radical communist beat-poet activists like Ginsberg? I wouldn't say it if there wasn't evidence. I don't know if he's a practicing homosexual now,but it is clear from Michael Weiner's own writings that he was then,as well as being into many other things that he now denounces. Sorry I spelled Ginsberg with a z on my first post. Michael, and Allen sitting in a tree,k i s s i n g.

Calling someone a MORON is no where near as bad as wishing AIDS upon someone. Jesus probably wouldn't call him a moron, but I will. What I won't do is wish AIDS upon anyone...just as this man "Savage" with a dark heart has done.

Boortz ripped him to shreds on this issue. Never liked Bootz much. I prefer the last angry white man in America. I don't agree with him all the time, sometimes he makes me mad, but I sure like his passion for old America.

Coming up on 5 years now, and still going strong.
