Thank you, Watermen. Despite all the thunder and fury on this thread, the incident the article's author described did happen, according to the information DJ88 obtained in contacting DEI. I most definitely am not qualified to know if that tweaking was legal or illegal under NASCAR rules, which are mysterious at the best of times. Whether or not it was legal, though, the crewman tweaked that area for a reason. Your description of the likely effect seems logical to me.

The tweaking is a common occurance in tech inspection. The author knew that but printed this knowing gullible people like you would believe it wasn't a common occurance. And I'll say again that if you believe the fender was moved an inch and a half above the fender, you don't know Nascar.
