Pirates Make Last Performance At Treasure Island

It's the return of sin city for one hotel on the strip. The curtain was drawn on the family oriented pirate show at Treasure Island Sunday night. The property wants a sexier image, so in October the "Sirens of Treasure Island" kicks off. News 3's Ann Lim reports it will be a somewhat racier pirate show with female performers.

It's the final battle between the Brits and the pirates. The performers had a long climb up. A decade later, it's time to come down. A flock of people of all ages surround Treasure Island to watch the last show. "It's been great. There are just too many things. I met my wife through show, I've made great friends through show."

Sam Sadovia is one of the original crew members and he can't believe the buccaneer ride has come to an end. "It definitely flew by in the blink of an eye. It's ten years later." Treasure Island wants to keep up with the adult theme on the strip, so they're turning in their pirate village for something more sexy and hip.

Girls are already auditioning for the new show, but for Sam and the other positive pirates, they've accepted the change and they're just hoping. "I've been here six years. Everyday I come in with a big smile on my face. Today might be the only day I leave without a huge smile on my face just because it's closing."

There have been more than 16-thousand pirate battle performances since 1993. It's estimated more than 25-million people have seen the show.
