Thanks for the reply. I'm new (as far as being a member on FR), but a loooooooong time reader of FR's postings. I'm pro-gun,conservative, and have a constant craving for venison, and any wild game I have the opportunity to get my hands on. I normally hunt the Catskills/NW New Jersey/PA area. I hear your deer have bigger antlers down there, but the "bruisers" are up here.

Welcome to FR. Couldn't tell you about average deer size in GA - they all look alike to me (except for the antlers of course). I understand that PA has the largest deer population of any eastern state, but they're getting to be a nusance around here. There are places where driving late at light you are definitely at risk of running into one - like east of Atlanta around the Hard Labor Creek area. I haven't been hunting in many years, my interest in weapons runs to the more second amendment types.

Seamus, I've lived in NE PA (near Wilkes-Barre) and yes, you do have some big deer up thar. But man, I'd rather live down here in occupied GA (grin). Those cops in NJ feel they have a right to confiscate any and all firearms. Having live in Ga for about 4 years now, there is NO WAY I will ever live the police states of the NE (PA isn't too bad, but MA, NJ, and NY-you might as well live in some socialist state where firearms are prohibited).

Another beautiful thing about GA is we have the rare jack-a-lopes in great quantity. Even got a few trophies and have seen plenty in the various barber shops down here.
