I hear Sojourners (a 'religious' nonpartisan social action group) thinks the same thing. Of course, since it really is partisan, Sojourners should have its 501c3 status revoked.
When you discover the answer to why we couldn't remove Clinton, you'll have answered your own question. But of course, I know you know the answer already.
.
Don't these people swear an oath to uphold the Constitution they seem to hold in such contempt?
We're in deep trouble.
If you caught the panel discussion with Breyer and Scalia on C-Span, you couldn't miss the antipathy. Breyer wouldn't look Scalia in the eye and babbled...clearly knew he was proposing the indefensible. With every word he dug himself a deeper hole. Scalia was, as usual, immense.
yup , and Breyer can bring aboriginal tribal customs to his written opinions/rulings ,... morphing F**Kin' goofball
The rest of the world thinks they should have the right to vote in US elections, so in '08, we'll probably see CNN set up polling stations in Germany and France, etc.. Breyer and his pals would go along with this in a heartbeat.
Enough is enough. Traitors oughtn't be administers of law. It's suicide.
Justice: Can Constitution make it in global age?
Can the mods please fix?
Guess I ought to look at the date first... never mind.
What part of ... protect and defend The Constitution of the United States of America does this overeducated doofus not understand?
One would think that this goes without saying. Guess our collective IQ has plummeted.
Every Supreme Court candidate will in the future have to be asked, "Will you defend and protect the Constitution of the United States and no other? ."
I, [NAME], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as [TITLE] under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.''
I am afraid the day is quickly approaching when the people will simply not recognize the pronouncements from the court ( spurred on by things like Kelo, etc. ), and decide the only way to secure their rights by banding together and asserting those rights through force of arms.
But, I suppose some of the Founding Fathers saw a day like that would come. Liberty is worth nothing unless one is prepared to shed blood for it, and that includes fighting enemies both foreign and domestic.
and whether our Constitution and how it fits into the governing documents of other nations, I think will be a challenge for the next generations."
You'll note that he said exactly what he had in mind.
He did not say "... and how the governing documents of other nations fit into the beliefs, rights, obligations and tenets of Our Constitution...
I suppose we can all agree on that.
Can the mods please fix?
It's kind of late in the day for that, isn't it? This thread was started on July 7, 2003.
I checked the date after I read:
"In an unrelated matter, O'Connor indicated on "This Week" that she would likely serve out the next term on the court, dismssing speculation that she was about to retire. "
... slinking away... feeling stupid
Now I'm picturing you sitting there since 2003 with cobwebs all around you. LOL.
... slinking away... feeling stupid
The only stupid ones are the justices who actually go along with this crap.
Hey, Lawrence Tribe, if you're still listening, impeach and remove Justices Breyer and O'Connor, and then try them for treason, tar and feathers optional. Just wanted to get on the record.
