The USA's Tyler Hamilton the only man to beat Lance Armstong head to head this year in mountain competition was taken to a hospital for X-Rays after a massive crash at the end of Stage 1 of the Tour De France.
As many as 200 world class cyclists were involved in the pileup, which occurred less than 1km from the finish line and forced 4 time Tour De France champion Lance Armstrong to finish on a teammates bicycle after falling in the melee.
All riders will be awarded the winners time since the accident occurred in the closing stage fo the race.

No word on Hamiltons condition, he is a great rider..probably the next great USA Olympic and road racing hope.

It was a nasty crash. Apparently they've never finished in that town before, so they weren't quite sure what to expect. It was a real furball. Glad to see Lance is OK. Hope Tyler is too.

Wasnt Tyler and Olympic medialist on the short track? I don't think so. He is purely a road racer. He did compete in the Sydney Olympics, but I'm not sure of his finish.

Outdoor Life Network will always replay the race through the day for those on the West Coast.
During the weekedays for folks who are working when the race is going on [8-11 AM Eastern] there will be a prime time pre show at 8PM and the race will be replayed at night in prime time after that..

Thanks for the update, ewing. That sucks for Hamilton, but these kind of things tend to motivate you if you handle them right.

I think the next Tour de France should be conducted on Segways.

Rumor has it that Tanya Harding was sighted speeding from the scene in a blue Honda Accord...
Sorry.
