My views on the military are pretty old fashioned. That is why I joined up when I was 18 and was silly enough to insist on a combat arms assignment. My recruiter promised me solemnly that I could be a tanker. As I recall my orders out of recruit training read something like: "FOR FURTHER DUTY TEMPINS at INFANTRY TRAINING SCHOOL CAMPEN CA"
