Some of this is the tradeoff, for the freedoms we have enjoyed, even celebrated.
I doubt that fundamentalist Christianity is the answer, for many places which have a lot less of the listed problems, also have a lot less fundamentalist Christianity.

And the part of the US that suffers the most from these items is the bible belt.
