I had the privledge of participating in this Hillary FReep from two perspectives. I first went in as a journalist, and later, a FReeper. The handlers told me they weren't taking anymore press people when I arrived at 2:15, so I started interviewing people in line.
I spoke to one young man who was having 6 books signed for relatives. Then I spoke to Jack, a young man originally from Russia. He was having nine books signed, all to sell on ebay. He was reluctant to talk price, but felt he could get over $100 each. He had done this before with other famous authors. Jack said that he "hated Hillary, but was a Monica fan." Interesting how this former victim of socialism was using a socialist for capitalist purposes.
The co-owner saw me, and invited me in. This time, I was accepted for checking by the dogs, and then was put in the press area. Hillary arrived at 3:30 using a back entrance. She didn't speak to the press at all, let alone field questions.
I chatted with some of the other press people, and told them the protesters were "quite interesting, especially some guy called 'Raoul.'" Glad to see some of the press did report on you guys.
One of the reporters commented on the sign "commodities scam." He didn't understand it. I explained what it meant. There were about 8 press people there, and around 5 cameras, including two video.
Once were were cleared (by the dogs) for the press area, we could have no further contact with other people. I spoke with one of the co-owners. The first group of 40 people are their "regulars," people who attend EVERY ONE of the 12-16 book signings the store has each month. Then they started letting in people who had the validated bookmarks that gave them the right to a signature. The last group of people were the "stand-bys" who still had to buy the book. Their line started at 6:50 am.
It was difficult to get pictures at first because the people kept blocking the view, but the handlers moved them aside so we could get good shots from time to time.
I had come with some questions ready for my magazine, but she wasn't taking any questions. Her press secretary wouldn't answer them either on the spot. He said that he would have to check what her public statements were on those topics. I'll try to get those answers next week.
After about half and hour, I left and went to the FReep. It was nice seeing some old FReeper friends and meeting new ones. Others described the FReep pretty well. I'll put up some pictures soon. Hope everyone else does, too.

There's an old saying that it's easier to tell the truth because you don't have to remember your lies. I think her press secretary's response confirms that "Honesty is never the policy" with Hillary.
