Call me delusional. You don't convince most people by holding forth a Socratic dialogue. On the contrary, you convince them by making the other side into the enemy.

You've got to get them to listen to you and your arguments before you can move them to HATE the opposition. Hate doesnt come that easy to most non-political types.

So Hillary's book was there for a couple of weeks. I'm not going to get too excited one way or the other. Conservatives are notoriously voracious readers of political books and unlike the Dems they have the $$$ to buy them.

You would be shocked at the percentage of Americans that read much less buy one or more books per year. It is a very small percentage of the population. Saw it recently. Believe it was LESS THAN ten percent.

It isn't true that you have to "get people to listen first." For a rather small number of people that is true; for the vast majority of people it isn't a very effective way to communicate with them. The mere fact that ideas are presented and are repeated changes the way people look at things. Like it or not, most people respond to emotionally-charged language, rather than subdued language with all of the corners knocked off.

And this is exactly what the Left does. They've managed to use the language so effectively that they control nearly all of the governments of the entire Western world. Once more, they didn't achieve that kind of political power by using flowery language when talking about the political Right, either. No. They did it by using emotional appeals that we've all heard literally thousands of times. Conservatives are uncaring, selfish, greedy, narrow minded, stupid; they care only about the rich, about men, about whites, etc, etc. We've all heard those things for a very long time.

It may be a very ugly truth, but this is what works. Coulter and Savage are doing exactly what needs to be done.
