"Are they? Were the isolationists of the '30s aiding Hitler? I don't find these issues to be as clearcut as you do. "

The isolationists were not having huge televised protest demonstrations that the enemy could use for propaganda, for one.

The present anti-war crowd is really an anti-Bush crowd. It's OK when a Democrat like Clinton bombs an aspirin factory to take the media focus off his problems, but let Bush send troops to Afghanistan and Iraq and they feel compelled to go into their act. I guess you didn't know that several openly communist organizations funded and organized a number of the demonstrations and they bolstered the turn-out with paid demonstrators.

Don't you know Saddam was relishing every minute of those demonstrations. It emboldens his troops into hanging in there and fighting harder because they think America is about to cave in due to public pressure. I wonder how many casualties were caused by Iraqi troops that would have given up had they not thought the U.S. was about to withdraw.

On another note, have you noticed how the liberal Democrats cosy up to Fidel Castro? To this day it's almost impossible to get them to say anything negative about any communist regime.

I think it's also important to note that there are two kinds of Democrats. There are the rank and file Democrat voters who are good citizens and go through life trying to do what's right. Then there are the Democrat politicians who have thrown away any last vestiges of decency and character for the sole purpose of ascending to power. They get by with doing things that would get a conservative thrown in jail and the liberal media gives them a free ride as usual.

I think that, generally, when we speak of liberals, we're referring to the politicians and their sycophants like Joe Conason who have this obsession with getting their faction back in power thru dishonest means.

A liberal dare not open his eyes too wide or he will see the network of extremely dishonest people he is supporting. How much of that crap can you blind your eyes to before it reaches the breaking point? A lot of us here have been through that and washed our hands of the whole ugly mess.

Of course, they didn't - commercial television didn't yet exist. But they did have huge demonstrations that the enemy could and did use for propaganda - and some were openly sympathic to the Nazis.
