[history]
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A majority of California voters believe Gov. Gray Davis should be removed in a special recall election, according to a Los Angeles Times poll.
Fifty-one percent of those surveyed want Davis to be unseated from office, while 42 percent would reject the proposed recall, the poll found. The remainder said they didn't know what to do.

When told the special election sought by proponents would cost at least $25 million, enough of those polled changed their answer to doom the recall.Sounds like the anti-recall Dems sponsored this poll!

Yes 51% - Aware, intelligent, conscious, freedom-loving citizens who care about California and who recognize a lying, trial lawyer enabling, massive thief commie degenerate by his foul stench.
No 42% - Kool-Aid drinking, fecal brained, mind numbed robots who toil in chains on the democrat plantation.
Dunno 7% - Unlikely to vote, perhaps salvagable via outreach.

The poll, published Friday, interviewed 1,412 adults, including 1,127 registered voters, from June 28 to July 2.Who were those other 285 people? Illegal aliens who still plan to vote?

I think Joe Davis is gone, but I'm not optimistic about the recall election. Isn't there likely to be one democrat and a couple or more republicans and won't that result in a split opposition outing the idiot back in office?

I gotta believe the majority of those non-registered folks never voted anywhere in their lives before. Why they should be included in a poll on an election issue makes no sense to me.
If they were left out of the poll, I'd say it's a fair bet that the quoted 51% number would jump to 55-60% wanting Davis out.

What stops Davis from using the State's Judiciary to either tie the recall up or declare it un-constitutional? It wouldn't be the first time Californians made a choice, only to be usurped by the Judiciary.
To: breakem
The recall doesn't work that way. There are two questions on the ballot: 1. Shall Doofus be removed from office? Yes or no. 2. If yes, then vote for one of the following candidates: then follows the list of those who paid their money and got the signatures necessary to be on the ballot.
The official being recalled CANNOT run for election in the recall. If the "yes's" have it, he's gone. The new governor only needs to have a plurality of votes to win.

Thanx, so if yes, then no Davis. However the repub can still split the vote. Are any dems going on the ballot. I can't recall any. Do you know the last date for them to declare?

I don't know what the dates are to get on the recall ballot. Most of the dems are saying they don't INTEND to run, but we'll see how that holds up when the recall election becomes a certainty.

The dems will have to put someone on in case Joe loses on the first question.

Everything is conjecture and speculation, threats and intimidation, at this point.
I expect legal challenges and more .. But, in the end, the People's will is going to win out.
You can only screw over the will of the poeple so mnay times and they get pi44ed off and take it to another level, ie, taking it to the streets protestwise.
There is a rally later this month in Sacramento. I have a feeling there will be quite a few folks there. Im debating making the trip myself, If I can swing it.

Problem is, the voters of Kali are liable to vote in a bigger socialist than davis. They want a strong leader who will "give them things".
OK, I'm a cynic. But Investor's Business Daily ran an editorial a couple of days ago predicting that what is going on in Kali is the "rebirth of the two party system". They based that on the fact that the Republicans in the legislature haven't caved on tax increases (yet).
OK, I'm cynical about that, too. They caved last year and the year before, so why does anybody expect them to stand up for smaller government?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
we'll be seeing shortly whether comrade davis is a stalinist, or a party member!
if his ego is as large as reported, stalin-like, he'll stay until his dying breath.
but, if he's just a bolshevik party member, he'll resign for the good of the democrat party.
stay tuned.
