"Justice O'Conner, who should be impeached for moral turpitude on the basis of that Texas sodomy ruling, might instead be nominated by the President, Mr. Bush, to be Chief Justice."

WHAT!?

Say it isn't so!

How did she not support it? I thought she was one of the six - she didn't think that homosexuals would be demeaned by having sodomy continue to be unlawful?
I will be very disgusted if she becomes chief justice.

"Yep, I bet the dems are working on a tactic right now, to propose that it was a secret plan, formulated by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to kill her to replace her with someone who will vote correctly for a change."

My Reply ( Which is in aggrement with yours!):

Nope

Just God.

NOTHING is built in Philly without the Union boys .. and we all know they aren't part of the VRWC

Bingo!

If this wasn't an accident, then it's the Carpenter's Local sending a message to Mayor Street and Governor Rendell regarding the Convention Center. The Philly Convention Center is totally under the thumb of the unions and those unions have been making the mob unions of NYC look like Walmart greeters when it comes to customer relations.

Surveys have shown that something over 80% of all convention organizers who've used the Philly Convention Center won't come back. It isn't the city or the local businesses or the hotels or even the city workers that's the problem. It's the Carpenter's Union along with the Metalworkers and a couple of other unions that gouges each convention, often fails to do what's needed by the customers, ignores requests and takes several times longer to get things done. The unions also fight among themselves constantly over who does what at the Center with the Carpenter's being at the center of most disputes.

It's gotten so bad that both Mayor Street and Governor Rendell have been tossing out ways to remove the unions. Rendell has just proposed making city or state workers run the Center. The scary part is that even a slow municipal hack relative of a politician would do a much cheaper and better job than the current setup.

So any intentional acts here will be the work of the local unions.

Besides, removing O'Connor also risked taking out Specter (enabling Rendell or the Democratic Lt. Governor to appoint his replacement). For that matter, I believe that Santorum was also around the ceremony. A VRWC demon wouldn't risk losing the Senate. *g*

This grows unintentionally funny.

The mantra of certain FReepers, to remain nameless, in the past has been "It's all about the Supreme Court." In other words, we support fairly squishy GOP candidates, and a moderate presidential candidate, because we will be repaid with conservative Supreme Court nominations, which will at last change the direction of the country.

So, when we actually get to the point where we might be seeing some nominations, we're told to look the other way while a liberal is nominated for Chief Justice.

OK...so we're supposed to give the GOP a pass on everything?

There's nothing that we should raise a stink aobut?

Remind me again why we're bothering to vote, won't you? :-)

I'm certainly willing to keep my mouth shut on a lot of issues for the greater good. But, for crying out loud...there has to be something conservatives get out of this deal. Is the request for a pro-life Chief Justice to replace the current pro-life Chief Justice really all that much to ask for?

The center's president, Joseph Torsella, was struck on the head but was able to walk to an ambulance.

He wasn't just hit in the head .. that thing drilled him like a hammer .. I'm surprised he wasn't more seriously injuried

What would she be doing at a constitution center dedication? She just spit in the face of that document last week.
