In God we trust (Coulter:Conservatives by and large believe in God, Liberals believe they are Gods)
Worldnetdaily ^ | 7/4/03 | Kevin McCullough

Posted on 07/04/2003 2:16:23 AM PDT by DPB101

Liberals despise hearing it! In fact they have worked hard to have the truth of it erased from public life. But it is true nonetheless.

After spending nearly a half hour of my radio show on the topic of Joseph McCarthy and the revolutionary claims set forth in her book, Ann Coulter bowled me over when I asked her the following question: "Ann, why do liberals hate conservatives in 2003 America?"

Her answer was a simple one, and then the clock ran out and she was gone. But that simple answer stirred the pot, and it echoed what this column had proclaimed merely weeks ago.

"Conservatives, by and large believe in God, and liberals believe they are gods," came the reply.

The basic gist of the idea is easy enough to understand. But let me clean up the edges for those of you who will yell about speaking in generalities. For truth to ever be understood – generalities must be used. In the end, generalities must also be proven on some scale or a new generality will replace it.

My stunned silence at Ann's answer was reaffirmation of a conclusion I had come to a long time ago. By liberals, Ann and I are both referring to those who make up liberal ideology – the radical activists within the Democratic Party. They have been on the wrong side of history – at least American history – primarily because they have been on the wrong side of God. What Ann is just coming to realize as a constitutional attorney, I have been realizing as a theologian for some time – absolute truth is knowable, and expected to be understood and followed.

So does this argument mean that Republicans never make mistakes or are on the wrong side? No! And when they do, they are less conservative in making such judgments. I also believe that there are very many Joe and Susie farmroad Democrats in America that philosophically are more conservative than liberal.

What is perilously unfortunate is that many of these folks lend their political votes and will to radical ideologues such as the Clintons, out of ignorance or presuppositions that may be perceived but not verifiable. (Democrats care more about poor people, Democrats care more about race relations, Democrats are more fair or – my favorite – I've been a Democrat all my life and I will never be anything other than a Democrat. All of these make compelling reasons, do they not?)

But all of this being the case carries no meaning on whether the statement is any less true.

Liberal elites, Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Carville, Jesse Jackson, Terry McCaulliffe, Diane Feinstein and others are far more radical in their beliefs than they ever betray to the public – although it is nearly unavoidable, because through policy they betray their thought process. They believe that the state (similarly to socialism) is the great giver. Conservatives believe that God is.

Liberal elites believe that morality is merely a matter of opinion. Conservatives believe God established this world and therefore morality is not up for debate but has narrow and specific limits to it.

Liberals believe that taking an innocent person's life is allowable in the process of gaining power. Conservatives believe that innocent life should be protected – and that each loss of innocent life is tragic.

Liberals believe that a family is "whoever you would like to have sex with" being allowed to do so. Conservatives believe that a family is one man, one woman, a covenant before God – and raising children in the safety of that healthy home.

Liberals believe that they hold divine wisdom in how the money that everybody else earns should be spent. Conservatives believe that the Creator has given them the stewardship of how they should control their priorities on how to spend the money they have earned.

In essence, liberals believe that they are gods and should be allowed to control your actions, beliefs, money and future. Conservatives, in essence, believe that God has granted us life and that in each life He has charged us with the task of being stewards of our own choices.

I have no doubt that I will receive more hate mail from this column than any other I have ever written. Frankly I don't care. It is not up to the demagogues to instruct me on how to think. Liberals' ultimate goal is to shut down all opposing voices that counter their power-hungry rhetoric. But the truth must be told nonetheless.

You may not buy into the idea that liberals have a hard time dealing with truth. You may be of the opinion that "just seeing things different" is a sophisticated enough explanation for how liberals go about life. I beg to differ.

Hugh Hewitt documented in his recent column, "Democrats Will Get You Killed" how James Carville had a hard time even seeing the truth when hard physical evidence was laid directly before his eyes. Hillary Clinton's book has recently been debunked, not just by Ann Coulter, but by men who knew her well, such as Dick Morris and Sydney Blumenthal. And the Rev. Jesse Jackson is continuing to betray his supposed Christian beliefs by pressuring his named replacement for Operation Push, James T. Meeks, to go against his own Christian beliefs and vote in favor of homosexual license.

Liberal elites have no moral anchor and, I guess by nature, have difficulty understanding what virtue looks like.

Conservatives must wake up. Conservatives must speak up. For if they do not, their apathy will cause them to lose the very freedoms that they love so much today. And in doing so, the phrase "In God We Trust" will be nothing more than an outdated mantra of time before the world can remember.

And that friend, will be the saddest day of all.

Good post, Lib. Let me add to it by saying this is also the precise reason that the "separation of church and state" that liberals are so fond of, is in reality a separation of CHRISTIAN church and state. Satan is behind that movement, and Christ is the ONLY player who worries him. You would think he would at least put on a more theatrical performance, to give at least the appearance that the problem is with ALL "churches," but he doesn't. His hatred and FEAR of Christ bleeds through and dominates the agenda. Man, I hope I'm privvy to actually witness him being chunked into the hole.

"the "separation of church and state" that liberals are so fond of, is in reality a separation of CHRISTIAN church and state"

Well, that was implicit in my post, but perhaps I should have clarified. And the reason being that "there is no other name under heaven by which men can be saved." I dare say that Satan knows the scriptures better than most Christians.

"You would think he would at least put on a more theatrical performance, to give at least the appearance that the problem is with ALL "churches," but he doesn't."

Yes, but as always he is blinded by his pride, which is why, despite his best designs, God, and by association, Christians, are always one step ahead of him. He gets cocky and blows it for himself. Perhaps the scripture, "pride goeth before a fall," doesn't only apply to humans.

But can you be legitimately conservative without having faith?

Absolutely, at least in my case :-) I believe in a higher being but have never found any certain religion that felt like "the one".

I'm a broken-glass conservative entirely due to my strong convictions in a basic right vs. wrong, individual liberty, personal responsibility, an obligation to treat other humans well, and from reading philosophers of government such as John Locke and Plato...

Religion completely aside, Liberalism contradicts all my personal values.

In essence, conservatives believe in the 10 commandments, and in particular, the one stating "Thou shalt have no other gods before me".

The wire rimmed, dope smoking, bearded, elitist liberal professors on our college campi want for a god to cover their asses, legitimizing & justifying their every desire.

Two quotes explaining liberalism:

"The boy's been educated beyond his intellegence."
..............................................................Cartoon character Foghorn Leghorn

"God created man in his image...Hollywood Liberals are returning the favor."

There is an archetypical secular conservative in the America tradition. Usually a guy. A swamp Yankee stoic, a Lee Marvin cowboy, a rugged individualist who is very uncomfortable around preachers but when the occasion arises, gives due deference to religion out of respect for tradition, to honor the women folk and to set an example for children. He hasn't been appearing in many Hollywood films lately. But he was once a staple.

Yeah, Sick Willie and Hillary are "gods" as in the campy Clash of the Titans mode. You would need Ray Harryhausen or one of the Japanese film miniature artists of the Godzilla/UltraMan tradition to render them divine.

Bill and Miss Hillary are the smartest people in the whole wide world. That is the liberal criterion for becoming a deity.

And Jimmy Carter was a brilliant, Nobel-genius-level Nookyooler injahneer. For some weird reason, they think these megalomaniacal former student council types (with psychotically huge Oedipus complexes) who read National Geographic as kids should rule the world. It doesn't take much to figure out who started the idea that liberals are really smart people...

Would a smart man desire Monica Lewinsky? Think about it...

If "liberals" are so smart, why do their policies always result in something like a cross between Mad Max, BladeRunner, and Soylent Green?

"No one said that it's a requirement."

You're right. No one said it, but it is a requirement if you want to know the secret handshake and get the decoder ring so you can come to the secret VWRC meetings. ;-)

The reason they work so hard against Christians and Christian beliefs is that they are the only thing standing in the way of liberalism/socialism completely dominating our way of life in America. ...Their lack of understanding is glaring. In fairness to those who are simply deceived, I do not believe for a minute that their own feeble little brains concocted such notions, but that the archetype was birthed in the pit of hell and is nurtured by Satan himself. 19 posted on 07/04/2003 7:46 AM PDT by sweetliberty

Well, if you are a Christian, it makes sense. And the realization nearly drove poor Brent Bozell insane. Satan is in fact the head puppet master of liberal banality. In the traditional formula, the "darkening of the intellect and the weakening of the will" are entwined in the supernatural "mystery of iniquity." Powers and principalities in the language of St. Paul. And Lucifer can present himself in the guise of an "Angel of Light." The gradual process of wearing one down through falsehoods, lies, and sin is well-documented. A liberal is essentially spiritually retarded and the dupe of a master of deception.

Lacking the basic ABCs of the Gospel, Christian catechism, or the spiritual/metaphysical nature of man, liberals are indeed spiritual retards. It's quite sad actually. As Lord Acton said of the anti-Christian revolutionaries of the French Enlightenment, some arguments can only be engaged with "prayer and fasting." We should actually pray for them...while continuing to ridicule and satirize their demonic ideological opinions and the dystopian travesties of their policies.

Bill Clinton is a classic example of a spiritual retard - enslaved to sin and error, almost bestial in the deformed manifestations of his outrages.

You're right of course, but nothing pricks the conscience on the weak-minded or enrages the demons who drive them quite like mockery.

And admonishing sinners and instructing the ignorant are Christian virtues and "works of mercy." Warning a liberal of the ultimate consequences of their hostile anti-Christian agitation is certainly allowed.

I think there are some center-left types where the ideological commitment is soft and confused. There are others who are hard core and terminal, basically.

The ones who conservatives need to target are the centrist moderates who really don't know what to believe but just tend toward liberal because that seems fashionable or cool. What was the old joke..."A neo-conservative is an old liberal who was mugged..." or something like that. You will see liberals looking around for answers when their wife or husband walks out on them. Liberals stay liberal until they get burned by it. There are guys who are liberal until their daughter starts dating. Those people can be turned. They are just embarrassed to admit how wrong they were.

I have a friend ("Tom") whose wife aborted against his wishes. He's livid and tormented beyond belief. Those people don't want to be liberal any more.

Liberal policies ultimately result in a sort of cross between Mad Max, BladeRunner, and Soylent Green. No one wants to live in a B SciFi/Horror movie. Conservatives and Christians just need to keep pointing these things out and satirizing and lampooning liberal silliness and sophistry. We know Jesus wins in the end.

Conservatives need to keep pointing out how much the family has been eroded, that relativism and nihilism don't work, that the culture war is hurting everyone. There is a lot that can be done with organizing conservatives and Christians in better strategies and avoiding some of the silly extremist postures that the media love to point to as proof that all conservatives are white supremacist gun nuts. There is some need for slightly different political strategies. God knows the Republicans don't solve all the problems. We need someone a little more like Reagan but younger and with a charisma that extends beyond the typical conservative base. In fact, we need a lot of those guys. Every town, every Republican Club, every Church should be on the lookout for organizing the right leaders in more creative ways.

Keeping the message going that liberals are bizarre, weird, strange, deranged, extremist wacko types with a silly and hostile anti-Christian ideology at odds with normal American culture is a tactic which can wear them down and make the liberals act even goofier. Hillary always delivers with some screaming and shouting some bizarre zaniness. They will bury themselves if you give them enough dirt.

As a conservative realist, I suspect things in the culture will continue to decline and get worse before there is any big turnaround. But the social and cultural disasters that liberalism will surely bring will be more evidence of the errors of that ideology.
