In court papers, Mayor Jeremy Harris said, "I have directed that the city not provide any support or services for the Kids' Parade that was not provided for the (Gay) Pride Parade" last Saturday.

And why did the city help organize the gay pride parade?

The ACLU is purporting to be seeking equality before the law by insisting that everyone be allowed in every parade.

However, since that allows anyone to destroy the focus of any parade, it seems to me that the interest of equality before the law would be better served by the sponsoring of seperate parades, equally sponsored, if the city has to be involved at all, which I question, beyond issueing permits and closing streets as needed.

I personally am not convinced that the city should be taxing its citizens for the purpose of sponsoring parades for any special interest groups. Gay pride seems especially over the top, and not in the general interest.
