Chairman of Senate Intelligence Committee: News will break on Saddam's weapons program
Drudge Report ^ | 07/03/03 | Matt Drudge

The Bush administration and the U.S. intelligence community have had some success in finding Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, Sen. Pat Roberts said Thursday.

Roberts, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters on a telephone conference call that he couldn't go into detail because the news is classified.

``It's classified information now _ I am urging the administration and the intelligence community to make at least portions of that public,'' Roberts said. ``We've had some success; I'm sorry I can't go into detail about that.''

Roberts, R-Kan., traveled this week to Iraq and the Middle East with members of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

I heard somebody say that some of the chem or bio stuff would be like looking for a 5 lb bag of sugar in Los Angeles. The complexities of that are mind-boggling!!

I.E., they won't be found unless someone points our way to them. And that's why Blix or any other U.N. of inspectors would NEVER have found them, if they searched for a milliion years.

Me: 1. They have released bits and piece with evidence of the lab, which according to your reasoning will endanger...yada yada

The logic error your are making is assuming that anything but the Rose Garden stuff was released willingly by the military. The press is pretty much free to go where they please. In that the things that were released were very large and hard to hide and keep under wraps, its not hard to assume this information was released by the military.

One other thing, the existance of the labs was already declassified and no difinitive facts regarding the documents in the truck have yet to be disclosed.

Its not possible for the military to keep everything under wraps.

I see, so they've controled the things you say they have, but not the things we've seen. A self fulfilling prophesy. Why if you hadn't told me different I'd swear this was a conspiracy theory.

Hey, I hope they do have everything needed. I pray every night that they find the WMDs, I honestly do. Feel free to ping me when they release the evidence of WMDs and we can rejoice together.

Until then stop wasting my time theories, you maybe a minion, but your devotion has made you sound like a Green Party member, which is why I argued with you. Liberals will tear you apart with these unprovable excuses.

At least you cannot say that there are no logical reasons to keeping the investigagtion secret anymore.

BTW, I have no theories. I'm just going by what those in the know have said.

Discounting their reports requires a conspiracy theory. You apparently have developed one that fits your needs. I'm glad for you. In the mean time, unlike you, I'll take the information at its face value for now.

"unless someone points our way"

Agreed! And ... this new set of documentation we found appears to be doing that - and I believe this is what Pat Roberts was referring to the other day.

Yeah, I'm the one that has a conspiracy theory because I take snippits as proof? Hey, this congressman is putting his rep on the line, and that is pretty important, but its not the WMDs.

its even closer yes, but you weren't listening, you never had to prove to me there are WMDs in Iraq.

You have to get off the partisan-train and listen to what you opponents says once in a while my friend. That's what I've been trying to challenge you about because I don't think you are doing our common cause any good here. I'm saying to you that if you try to piece a=b=c=a together for a Liberal, they are going to give a blank stare and say "where's the proof that Bush didn't lie?" You never got that what I'm saying isn't that these details aren't important, I'm saying they aren't good enough for the TKO on the WMD discussion we need, so going through with these superfluous indicators smacks of some desperation and they feed off that. We are better saying these things take time and avoiding the topic until the Admin show us proof, not trying to prove WMD without the chemicals.

I just watched Geraldine Ferraro on Hannity & Alien the other day getting spanked in an arguement about how they were so wrong to be pessimistic on the Iraq War (because they are so pessmistic currently on the Iraq peace) and in the middle of it, she screamed back at Ollie North "and where are the weapons of mass destruction!?" and North tried to reason with her and she wouldn't back down. They won't listen VRWM_minion. They know they got a "winner" and they are clamped down on that like their lives depend on it.

Its because they do. You know why they won't accept your explanations? Its because if they do, without that arguement on "where are the WMDs?" their entire stance was baseless. Liberals are naked and exposed on the Iraq War and they know it. You think all those details you listed without the WMD is gonna get a Ferraro hack to say, "well yeah, there were WMDs, moving on..." Of course not! Without the WMD she's got plausable deniablity and the ANSWER crowd knows it.

Point is, they are on their last legs about Iraq, don't give them an inch by argueing with what might appear (to them) to be desperate. Wait for the proof. I have to believe the Admin already knows this angle, which brings us full circle and is why I say it is illogical to give ANSWER traction with the "Bush Lied" idiocy if its at all possible. Maybe they think the hit they are taking is made up by the See I Told You So's, I don't think so but its a minor point.

Hopefully this is all resolved in a week or so.

No.

Unless of course the hand is completed and your opponents are calling you to show your cards, which unfortunately is what is going on now.

No, the folks with the bad hands are still raising and the cards are still being dealt (the investigation is ongoing).

They know they got a "winner" and.....

They might have a winner WITH YOU, and the other 25-30% of the country, but not with me and the 65-70% who agree that the IRAQI war was NECESSARY whether or NOT WMD are found.
