TAKING AMERICA BACK?
NewsWithViews.com ^ | July 3, 2003 | Paul Proctor

Christians and conservatives alike are all talking it up these days about “Taking America Back”. Is that really what we need to do – take America back? I would say that “Taking America Back” is not the solution at all but rather the problem. I know “Taking America Back” sounds patriotic and we SO love to blame this mess we’re in on the communists, the liberals, the feminists, the pagans, the homosexuals, the abortionists, the media, the Supreme Court, the Congress, the Senate, George Bush, Bill Clinton, F.D.R., the Illuminati, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderbergers, the Rockefellers, the Rothschilds and THE DEVIL HIMSELF but aren’t you and I, the church of Laodicea, ultimately responsible for what has happened to this country? After all, THEY didn’t take this country away from us. We GAVE it to them. My question is: “What were WE doing with it in the first place?” Do you honestly think that our omnipotent Lord is unable to deliver us from the evil now running roughshod over this country? Is wickedness increasing all around us because HE can’t stop it or because WE can’t? If it is WE that cannot stop it then why should WE take America back? What do you suppose we would do with America if we COULD take it back? In light of our fallen nature and track record, probably just what we did before – lose it. What’s a child going to do with a broken toy when he snatches it from the hand of the little friend who broke it? Not much, is he? Probably just sit there, cry for a while and play with the broken pieces until he gets bored and frustrated and it ends up back in the hands of the mischievous friend he took it from or is abandoned altogether. It seems to me that in all our pride and permissiveness we’re trying to pump each other up into little guts and glory gods here in the big sandbox. When Israel’s enemies reeked havoc over them, (because of their own sin) was their battle cry: “We’re Taking Israel Back?" Were they, going to somehow conquer the Assyrians and the Philistines FOR GOD while giving lip service to Him? Is that really the way we think the relationship between a man and his maker works? Apparently so… “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” - Jeremiah 17:5 My point is this: WE CAN’T FIX AMERICA anymore than we can fix ourselves. We can’t deliver America from sin anymore than we can deliver ourselves. “Taking America Back” may sound high-minded, moral and sell a lot of books and banners on the Fourth of July but for a Christian it’s as tragic and treacherous an idea as standing up in church to declare: “I’m taking my life back!” It’s the typical pseudo/psycho/self-help/self-empowerment/self-indulgent/self-assured/self-esteem philosophy we hear every day on television and radio that the world just loves and God hates. ”Take control of your life!” “You deserve it!” How can the Lord deliver anyone who refuses to yield and obey Him? He can’t – anymore than He can deliver a nation where millions of proud and sin-plagued Americans are hell bent on taking control. We ought to be on our knees before God in fear and trembling, surrendering ourselves into His gracious, merciful and all-powerful hands, one soul, one family and one church at a time, in humble obedience, trusting Him for the victory – not bragging to ourselves like a bunch of drooling drunks around the bar at last call announcing to the world that we’re “Taking America Back!” “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - 2nd Chronicles 7:14

Paul Proctor's comments may not be your cup of tea; personally, I'm in agreement with him.

I prayed hard and systematically over several days asking for the conversion of America, that He change hearts and minds. I got a clear answer on the fourth day. No miracle is in store. Those that repent of their sin will remain a small minority.

I had started a fast the evening of September 10th. Our church had asked each of it's members able to fast to do three 24 hr fasts sometime in the next 3 weeks.
I was away from home on business. When I heard about the attacks I was shocked. I prayed for the victims and had to tell a [legal] immigrant to shut up about how the 'palestinians' probably did this and how they were probably in the right.
When I got back to the hotel room that evening I prayed to the Heavenly Father to guide my thoughts. I opened my bible at random and opened it to Psalms:108

1 O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I [myself] will awake early.

3 I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

4 For thy mercy [is] great above the heavens: and thy truth [reacheth] unto the clouds.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

6 That thy beloved may be delivered: save [with] thy right hand, and answer me.

7 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

8 Gilead [is] mine; Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of mine head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;

9 Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

11 [Wilt] not [thou], O God, [who] hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he [it is that] shall tread down our enemies.

We cannot win ANY war by ourselves, we need to have G*d in our hearts, in our minds, and literally helping us to defeat our enemys.

I thought that America was put together by men with a very firm grip on the fact that man has a fallen nature. They cobbled together a structure for government that would be as resistant as possible to that nature: As many checks and balances against the lust for power and dominion over others as they could come up with.

That structure held for a very long, in human terms, time. Now it is failing because apparently men must have heaven on earth; they must enthrone themselves here below.

But the blueprint is still there. All that is called for is the return of a little humility. Whether it will take some massive religious conversion I do not know.

I think that any changes which occur in the country will have to be done one person at a time.

I think that the country is in the condition that it is because, we (I am 68) the older generations, let it happen. I have often said to the wife,"What could we have done differently?" There were no clear answers.

Actually, there are clear answers.

Jerry Pournelle describes American conservatism as "Christian Whiggery". This is a deep insight. Chistian Whiggery has no defense against the Left. It has failed universally in dealing with Jacobinism, Socialism, Naziism, and Communism. That is the reason Whiggery is no longer popular amongst the elites, who have shifted to a utilitarian doctrine. Whatever keeps them rich and powerful is good.

Sir Winston Churchill

Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.

Allow me to comment. I am Jewish, so I cannot comment on the religious part of your post. However:

It is clear (obvious and self-evident) that Western Civilization has been under attack for nearly a century. Look up "Gramsci" under Google. He wrote the plan. Knowing that the West could never be conquered by military might or voting, he cleverly realized that the culture was the key.

We have been deliberately and systematically subverted. The barbarians have gained control of the media (check), the educational system (check), news organs (check), etc.

Here's how it was done. Patiently. Leftists took poorly-paying jobs, biding time. Eventually the copy boy rose to editor of the paper. The 'instructor' gained tenure and is now a Professor, pouring poison into the ears of thousands of students. The 'intern' is now the news manager of a major network. Many went into teaching, and soon the NEA was a communist front. Etc.

While the rest of us were out doing, building, supporting our families, the maggots of the Left were burrowing.

Alas, the only way to rid ourselves of this plague (short of Civil War) is an equally patient, long-term program of "reverse subversion".

The problem is, the patient is almost flatlined; slow and steady methods probably take too long.

I predict a second Civil War. I am not looking forward to it. It will make the first one look like a Sunday-school picnic. I hope (and believe) I will be dead and buried before it begins. I am bloody-minded enough, though, to hope that somebody, somewhere is keeping a list...

I could not say this as well as you. Although I picked this one sentance, your entire comment was right-on.

Boris,

I appreciate your analysis, but I think you make the advances of the socialists sound more organized than they actually are.

In truth, I think most socialist advances are simply the expression of a character of human nature common to most people. They seek the easy way, security and comfort like most people. That they prosper today, is because we have created the jobs and institutions which allow this. We create univerities. We institutionalize our churches.

Safe, in a tenured position, paid by taxes, who would not be a socialist?

Socialists prosper today because we, too, take the easy way out. We feel that we can pass off our responsiblities to our fellow men to these institutions. We think that we can do good without having to work so hard at it. And now we act surprised that the environments we have created support people who despise us?

In all honesty, I hope a civil war is not the answer. I rather think a transition to something approaching Puritanism is. When times are tough, people learn the value of hard work. People still don't like being ripped off. These institutions may well be closed by people who feel they have had enough.

Socialism will starve if the Conservatives can learn that they cannot pass off their responsibilities on others.

So few of us in the oilfield get any thanks at all. Roughneck is in my past, but I'm still in the industry doing production logging.

Maria, I must disagree with you whole heartily, while we must submit to Christ we can not just sit by and let evil prevail over us or we will soon be living in the new Sodom. I for one say that we must take America back and reverse these sick laws that have allowed our great nation to become the great harlot of Satan. We condemn all of the evil mass murders like Saddam, Hitler, and others but America is the greatest mass murders of all we have killed over 42,000,000 unborn children now with no end in sight. Now we are just going to suck down gay marriage like it is the norm. We conservatives, Christians or not must stand up against this and get people into local, state and federal offices that will defend the country against this evil. Take the broken toy back and begin to repair it as God would expect you to do.

Operation American Freedom!!!

The Liberation Of The American Constitution From A Corrupt Government.
