Words do not mean what they used to mean, hence rendering your argument moot.

Stipulating that 'words do not mean what they used to', it does not follow that this makes my (or Goldwater's) argument moot. The words he used had the meaning I ascribed to them at the time he uttered them, and those meanings were speaking of truths which have been unaltered by time, just as sure as the fact that the meaning of 'well regulated' has changed with the ages does not change the truth that the founding fathers intended the Second Amendment to extend to private ownership of firearms.

Thanks for the ping, and thanks for posting. This is one of the best I've seen to start discussion. I'm sending it to my husband.

I'm assuming everyone saw the WhiteHouse statement lauding the Court decision on "diversity."

BTW, how come w hasn't signed the ban on partial birth abortion yet? I guess he'll just let it quietly become law WITHOUT his signature so as to not be identified with the "ideologues"* (of his party. (That's those of us who know what IS [truth]is.)

* an actual quote when asked why he didn't want to spearhead a ban on p.b.a. From what I understand, Lott went ahead and did it, which is why BUSH THREW HIM DOWN THE STAIRS!
