Violent clashes rocked the southern City of Behbahan following the executions of two freededom fighters.
Slogans against the regime and its leaders were shouted by many despite the heavy presence of the regime forces who were beating the protesters with clubs and chains.
Several protesters and members of the security forces, many of them of Iraqi origin, were injured in the clashes as residents tried to stop the public executions from taking place.
The two man were among those arrested during the violent clashes that rocked the City Of Ahwaz earlier this month and were involved in the popular uprising against the regime. They were transferred to Behbahan in order to avoid an uprising in their native town.
It's to note that Behbahan and Ahwaz are both located in the Oil rich province of Khoozestan and more executions are planned for the next days as the regime intends to avoid a general rebellion from taking place in this strategic province.

The executions are beginning. But the regime may have chosen the wrong city to start executing.

Thank you for this important post, keep us informed. Is there anything we can do? We need to support the Iranian students and the reform movement, it is very important.

Is this in response to closing the Tehran University? This is in the sourth western part of Iran, far from Tehran.

I'm waiting for the point when the protestors have had enough of being stomped on, and the regime forces start taking casualties. If they are using Iraqi thugs, then we can count on them to be thugish as long as they have the advantage, then run away like screaming schoolgirls when faced with superior force

major bump!

Very interesting, thank you.
My recollection is that Khoozestan is mostly Arab, so use of Iraqi security makes more sense than elsewhere.
Could you add me to the ping list please?

Oh God Doctor, please let them stop the executions. If they all stand up they can make sure it doesn't happen to any of them. They MUST stand together.

Names! The students need to get the names of those executed. These men must be remembered, they gave their lives for freedom and they MUST be remembered. Use their names as a rallying cry!

If they spread the executions to other cities/provinces...
If they go beyone "protect the oil" and into 'save the government.."
Then there is a chance for popular uprisings...
I agree that the special police will probably cut and run if they are seriously opposed, particularly if the mil and police are truly opposed to them and to the theocracy.
