I've used use my vote to make a conservative statement only when I'm certain I'm not helping elect a liberal. The last two times were in the Iowa caucuses for Alan Keyes. If Keyes was a third-party candidate in the '00 General Election, I'd have voted for Bush to keep Gore from winning.It's not particularly satisfying. But, it's a nod to reality.
I like your approach. I can't imagine anyone who could completely satisfy me as president. I hear your concerns and I tend to share them.
But, like you, I try to be a realist. At this point, I'm satisfied that next year there isn't going to be any electable candidate out there who will better represent my interests than our President. ;-)
