Hmmm. How interesting! I didn't know that Todd was an antique dealer, just like me! Wow!

Todd, do you have a specialty? Do you handle smalls or furniture? Do you sell on e-Bay?

Do you have booth space or do you simply handle stuff over the net? What kind of stuff are you finding at garage sales? I have found that the finding of bargains for dealers has evaporated here in the Midwest since the popularity of "The Antique Road Show" has made everyone think all of their junk is priceless treasure. Is New York still a good place to find bargains?

Upstate New York is a goldmine. Besides yardsales there are 100's of old farm houses that end up in estate auctions. Normal return is 3 to 5 times the money spent.

I try for smalls as it is easier to ship. The furniture is either sent to a different auction or sold to a client if I buy a whole estate out.

I just use the client list to get rid of the items. I allso use some local ebayers that list stuff for me. Ebay was good for the client list years ago. Now be honest listing is a real pain? LOL

I'm a dealer, too, Miss Marple. I handle mostly smalls. Used to have a pretty good business with primitives, antique tools, staffordshire ABC plates and mugs, kids stuff. We were pretty well known for that. Got out of it for the most part but still do the Madison Bouckville show once a year. I love antiques but my husband doesn't like all the lugging and unpacking. Then they have to be packed up again and put in the cellar. Lots of work for us old folks. M
