Tribute to Lee Marvin(Vanity)
ArlingtonNationalCemetary ^ | Myself

Posted on 06/28/2003 9:45:55 PM PDT by microgood

Was watching Eraser tonight and I thought James Coburn was in Cat Ballou but then I searched and realized it was Lee Marvin. Did a search and found out he got a Purple Heart and is buried in Arlinton National Cemetery. I'm sure most freepers know this but thought I would share this site as we approach our nation's birthday. Recommend you check out this site. I love that generation.

Bump for Lee Marvin in The Delta Force, a great Norris/Marvin flick based on a true story.

Dialogue between Lee Marvin and Ralph Bellamy in The Professionals (1966)

Bellamy: You bastard.

Marvin: In my case an accident of birth, but you, sir, are a self-made man.

One of the great lines in film history, IMHO.

I watched an interesting movie several years ago about the shoot out at the OK corral. I think it was called TOOMBSTONE.
Powers Booth played one of the bad characters in it. As I watched I realized Booth was actually doing an imitation of LEE MARVIN as if he had the role.

God made the mountains.
God made the sky.
God made the people.
God knows why.
He fixed up the planet as best as He could.
Then in come the people and gum it up good....

They civilize left.
They civilize right.
Til nothing is left.
Til nothing is right.
They civilize freedom til no one is free.
No one except, by coincidence, me.

-- Lee Marvin as Ben Rumson in "Paint Your Wagon" (1969)

It was one of my father's favorite movies. It was one of my sister's least favorite.

Shot in the buttocks on Saipan. Buried right next to boxer Joe Louis.

You must have the wrong marker here; Lee Marvin, the movie actor didn't die in 1957.

I agree, that generation were truly giants among men. We are losing them fast. Get to know them while you can.
