I searched and didn't see this. Still good, I think.

There does come a point for a human being, when given no other options, to turn and fight--the survival instinct. No statements of 'Religion of Peace' will quell the demand for blood ( yes, blood ) when that instinct kicks in.

The Vietnam analogy doesn't hold water. The North Vietnamese didn't threaten our own security. For most Americans it was an optional war and they had to be persuaded by the politicians that it wasn't.
Let's not underestimate ourselves. Nothing has greater potential to unify Americans across the political spectrum than a series of new terrorist attacks. When we're targeted as a nation, we'll respond like a nation.

Funny they make the Vietnam War comparison. Getting out was McGovern's signature issue in 1972. The peace treaty drawn up by Henry Kissinger after Nixon was safely re-elected called for both North Vietnamese troops and U.S. troops to withdraw. They did.
It was only when the public, pre-occupied with Watergate and the Democrats with supermajoritie in the 1974 mid-terms that North Vietnam felt free to tear up the armistice and invade the south. Many people conveniently forget that piece of history.

I wonder how the mooslims will like it when we start defiling the bodies of their terrorists to prevent their ascent to their paradise? Or when a group of us respond by destroying the Dome of the Rock, or the Kabaa? Piss us off enough and our anger and vengeance will know no bounds. Ask the residents of Homburg or Dresden. Quiz the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We are slow to anger, but terrible in our resolve.

It was a victory over the American media, which became unnerved and then subsequently unnerved America's political leadership. That combined with a substantial and growing "peace movement" ultimately led to America's defeat in Vietnam. So great was the shock over the apparent strength of the enemy and its determination to win, that in psychological terms, America simply caved in at home, despairing of any near term victory. The media did not become "unnerved". They wanted the communists to win. They lost the war for us deliberately, IMHO.
Vigilanteman, you make a good point.

I agree that America lacks staying power. All our enemies usually have to do is wait 4 years, or 8 years, or 12 years, and a new administration comes on board--another Jimmy Carter, let's say, or bill clinton.
The media are knee-jerk anti-Americans, and they will do everything they can to undermine any kind of useful response to our real enemies.
The Democrats actually hope we will lose, so they can score political points.
Nevertheless, this is not Vietnam, because there's no way we can lay down our hand and bug out. All Ho Chi Minh had to do is drive us out of South Asia. With terror attacks against our own citizens, in our own country, the American people will realize that there's no getting away from it. They will have no choice but to fight.
It could get pretty bad, but there's no way we can just give up, because that just isn't possible.

This artcle is not helpful in any way, in my opinion. It gives aid and comfort to the enemy. As mentioned previously, the Vietnam analogy is horribly wrong. The communist were very careful not to attack the U.S. homeland so as not to enrage us.
To give the enemy this false hope that they can divide and conquer through the media is irresponsible.

Piss us off enough and our anger and vengeance will know no bounds. You are absolutely correct. I fear for the innocent Muslims who may get caught up in this. They will be big time losers.
To: Lando Lincoln
When the terror really begins (and make no mistake, it's coming), will we have the necessary determination to achieve victory, no matter what the sacrifice? If we fail in this case, we will die. The terrorists have repeatedly stated that our complete annihilation is their goal. Surrender is not an option.
That is a pretty strong motivator. If the reality of that fails to unite us as a nation, then we are already dead.

If they don't start to fight the fanatics among them and continue to passively support them, I won't consider them innocent for long.

LOL You even remembered the pork!
Just out of curiosity... have you ever been to Indonesia or Malaysia? I was just wondering because it seems really violent their doesn't it? I grew up in that region and experienced NOTHING but nice people that were friendly and warm. There are unquestionably some extreme fundamentalists but if you take a look at the population they are a minority.
What you see on the media is as accurate as how the rest of the world see's America. They think we have shoot outs in every neighborhood or everyone is like the people on Jerry Springer. Ignorance and the media taints a warped perspective of us also. If you have not traveled to any of these country's your veiw point is just as accurate. It's not.
All Islamic people are not violent or dumb as not all American's are violent and dumb. The Middle East does have a much higher concentration of violence than other regions of the world but to say all Islamic people are like that is inaccurate.
I am the first one to scream strong action on terrorism and those who support terrorism. The terrorists are the EXTREME just as we have far left and far right we also have a great number of moderates in America as does Islam.
Your way is genocide. Your way is no better than what the EXTREME fundamentalists are doing. I do not see how this help's one bit. IT ONLY HELPS TERRORIST'S TO RECRUIT MORE YOUNG MEN TO THE CAUSE. It gets more of our soldiers KILLED fighting in dangerous territory. It gets more of our citizens killed abroad and in country. Watch a terrorist recruiting tape sometime and you may wise up.
READ THE STATEMENTS FROM THE BALI BOMBER'S. THIS SENTIMENT IS EXACTLY WHAT INSPIRED THEM TO KILL 250 PEOPLE. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT INSPIRES BIN LADEN TO FLY PLANES INTO OUR BUILDINGS KILLING 3000 PEOPLE.
But you know what even if every one of them are bad, we still need to shut up and let our military sort it out and get them home safely without causing more trouble for them.
PLEASE keep our soldiers safe and refrain from being part of the sector of our society that antagonises more uprising both in this country and around the world.
If it did a bit of good I would be right behind you. THIS ACHIEVES NOTHING BUT MORE BLOODSHED.

They live amongst them and are SCARED TO DEATH for their families lives and their own. That is why they are so deathly quiet. I cannot blame them. Look what Sadam did to his own son-in-law.

By
not standing against the radical element of Islam, they give their tacit
approval.
Therefore, they deserve what they get.

My point is that at some point they better be more scared of US. Because if they persist in the terrorist acts, they will be swept up in our retaliation. Remember at one point we were willing to incinerate 200 million Soviet citizens because of the threat the 10 million CPSU members posed to our country. Thats the reality. They can hurt us. We CAN destroy them like Rome destroyed Carthage.

Jihadists are like virulent cancers. reason will not do. It may come down to radiotherapy at some point.
To: Kozak
Excellent point, as McArthur's father used pig entrails on the bodies of muslims killed (executed) and left one living to tell of the act. This story apparently left Islamic fighters no will to continue fighting!
