These guys at the check points should shoot first, ask questions later! Also every single soldier should be wearing g.p.s. inside of there uniform. That would help locate them at a moments notice, and locate them exactly where they are!

We take out far more of the bad guys then they take out - have been since day one. Our guys are not helpless dupes at the mercy of the all-powerful foe. They are the best fighting force in history.

We have 146,000 Coalition troops in a nation the size of California with 24 million newly free Iraqis - the vast majority of whom are grateful we're there. Our enemies armed the Iraqi people - hoping they'd take us out - mountains of weapons in schools and hospitals and warehouses across Iraq...and they chose NOT to fight. We've had less than one Coalition casualty A DAY. I believe the odds are greater of dying in Austin weekend traffic.

We're now conducting aggressive ops to locate and take out the bad guys - with the help of the Iraqi people who not only patrol with us, but who voluntarily point out the bad guys - who are cornered and fighting back and have NO future.

This is a country left a mess after 24 years of Saddam. We've been there less than 100 days. We have been making progress from day one - and from day one the press has been working to undermine our efforts - for partisan political sake - aiding our enemies and sowing dissent.

Re. post-embed reporting from Iraq: here, here, here, here, here, here, here , and here.

"We have always anticipated and were prepared for what we term as pockets of resistance," Balice said.

------------------------------

Uh, when are we going to get realistic about this. The pocket of resistance is the entire Muslim world. We haven't seen anything yet.

We're deploying more troops, per Fox News yesterday. I hope we get this in hand and quick.

You are incapable of realism.

23 KIAs in 60 days in a war zone?

We are succeeding systematically there. Too bad the troops and Iraqis don't get the Kocher real deal on zolatimes, they'd just curl up in a fetal position.

We're winning spectacularly. Kicking your ass lefty.

Don't kid yourself -- this is bad. It seems like everday the news lead is another American(s) being murdered. This HAS to be bad for Republicans and bad for troop morale.

Of course it's going to take time. I just don't want another 22 years, ala Viet Nam with our guys and girls being POWs or target practice.

Be nice.

Also Friday, insurgents fired rocket-propelled grenades

The Iraqis seem fond of those.

On Saturday, a cloud of black smoke billowed from one of Baghdad's largest textbook printing plants, and coalition forces arrested two men in the incident.

That's a very interesting item. More than just random arson I would think.

One or two soldiers a day is a small loss if not insignificant. Very small price for the strategic advantage of occupying Iraq.

One of the great inconsistencies is that the very same public who encourage, rush to, and celebrate a war such as we are engaged in with Iraq, are the moaners and complainers and hand wringers later. As long as American deaths can be kept to single digits per day (and I can't imagine them rising) and don't begin to errode GW's populatity numbers, then the costs should be considered minimal and quite acceptable. Lives well spent in a global strategic and domestic political overview. The economic slowdown has given us an almost limitless supply of cannon fodder and now is the time to use it to our advantage.
