No one has to prove American citizenship anymore to vote.

In California, workers on voter registration drives are prohibited from asking to see any.

They're also prohibited from asking for it at the polls.

I went to vote with one of my friends who was a new arrival in the state (and unused to California's "special" election laws). When he gave the polling place worker his name and driver's license, the worker looked aghast and quickly showed it back into his hand.

It surprised him. For me, it was simply another reminder why I was there to vote no on Prop 45 (same day voter registration).
