VANITY - Help with Director 8 export

Posted on 06/27/2003 5:26:47 PM PDT by Marak

I am looking for some help in publishing from Director 8. My main problem is that I have an interactive presentation that includes and AVI segment. When I go to publish, the shockwave output works fine except the AVI never shows. The browser window remains blank for what wold be the duration of the movie and then continues with the interactive part.

Any help will be appreciated.

What format is the avi file in (e.g. mpeg, cinepak, etc.)? I assume you're running on a pc - is this correct? Tell me more.

Correct assumption on the PC. I am not sure how to determine the format of the AVI file. It is merely a 30 second AVI. That was imported into Director. It plays fine within director, but not after I publish it.

Check your paths to the video to make sure they are relative and not absolute.

This is from the book "Using MM Director 8" - If you are having a problem playing digital video in Director, the first place to look is always the member's properties in the Property Inspector. Is the member set to Paused? Are both the sound and video tracks enabled? You might use the Direct to Stage option if all else fails.
