Indeed. You'd have to come in and apologize every few hours. Where's your humanity, man???

That's right. She said she was sorry. So it's ok right?

My point is, I'm sure if a guy hit an older woman and left her in the windshield, there would be a different take on the trial.

No, I heard Pat Buchanan say the prosicution was very impressive. I was just suprised; I didn't think a jury would be so tough in todays PC environment.

She didn't intentionally target a white man and hit him because he was white. In Texas hate crime bumps up lesser crimes.

Well she sure in the hell let that white man die a horrific, brutal, agonizing, slow death. And while he was gasping for his last breath, she planned to dump his lifeless body in a freaking park. You don't call this a hate crime? Sheesh!

First the crime did not qualify for Texas death penalty.Second,piffle.The ecstasy defense did not work and it isn't a valid defense at all.She is terminally selfish and thought her needs more important than a terribly injured man's.She almost got away with it.She talked.

I think all crimes of murder, rape and armed robbery are hate crimes.I just don't think it is useful to turn a truly horrific crime into a forum on another pet peeve or sense of injustice. My usual emotions on such depraved behavior is to wish the punishment mimic the crime but the law makes me be civilized! My emotions wanted old sparky taken out of storage to use on her but I accept the verdict.I thought she deserved life.

She let the man die, willfully let him die while stuck in her windshield.

She didn't just let him die, she made sure that he would die. Not only didn't she render aid, but she hid him so that nobody else could.

He was the only eyewitness to her crime, and she killed him intentionally. Negligence was simply her method.

She made a big mistake, but I don't think she is an evil person...

When exactly did the word "mistake" become synonymous with the word "crime"?

A mistake is something that happens when you are not attentive or careful enough. When you discover it, you correct it or apologize for it. How does someone imprison a mortally wounded man, enlist others to dump his corpse, clean up the evidence and burn the seat, then sit on the dirty little affair for four years by mistake?!

As far as her character is concerned, how do you judge the content of a woman's soul if not by her actions? Anybody can blubber in front of a camera when their fate hangs by the judgment of strangers, but how remorseful was she the day before she got caught. Character happens when you think no one's looking.

that is so low, it can't be any lower!!
What makes us humans prior is, we have a brain and can use it, build societies and develop. You must have stopped somewhere in evolution. Sorry about that, but killing everything, wich doesn't fit is not the way!!

BTW I'm fine with her punishment, she is a very selfserving person and did all this to avoid to be caught!

Amen to your post! Plus, she had medical training!

For years she lived in a drug culture that flaunted all morality and responsibility.

She reaped what she sowed.

Her cries of mercy bring to mind a comment made in a western, 'why do those who do not show mercy, expect mercy'?
