Ann Coutler's new book Hidden and undersold by BORDERS-Hiilary all over the store

Posted on 06/27/2003 9:45:55 AM PDT by mandingo republican

Just went to Borders on Broadway near Wall Street in New York City to buy Treason by Ann Coutler. Only 8 copies of her book were displayed on a stand to the side that wasn't even facing the door. When I bought it - it was 30% off I got a dirty look by the pretty Gen Xy college student cashier. She even made a point to check the back of my credit card to see if the signatures matched up - they seldom do that.

On the other hand - Hillary's book was displayed all over the palce! In the front in the back, on carts EVERYwhere! There were hundreds of Hillary books strategically placed all over - when you walked in you were faced with a wall of Hillary!

The bias will never end!

you don't understand. Coulter's almost sold out; it's moving so fast that they're trying to keep it in stock. Hillary, on the other hand, isn't selling.

I think you're exactly right.

At my local borders Thursday, when I bought my copy, the young clerk asked me who Ann C. is. I raved about her for a minute, then he said, I'm going to have to take a look at a copy of that book, everyone's buying it.

This is in a very liberal suburb of very liberal Chicago. They had tons of hitlary's book prominently displayed, and Ann's book was not in nearly as good a position, but her appearances on those tv shows with all the catty women are getting a lot of notice.

Her book is selling even though it's harder to find in the stores. Nobody wants to read hitlary's book, it's just more of the same pack of lies we've all heard all these years.

LOL. See how stupid corporate leftists are? If they wanted to diminish sales, they should have raised the price and not reduced it!!

I'm going to be going by our local Borders today anyway and I'm going to see what's going on. ;-)

Wasn't Borders the chain that was selling a photography book a few years ago that was, by any rational person's estimation, child porn? As I recall, bookstore officials wouldn't even listen to complaints.

this has been going on for decades.

i was in the new barnes and noble on mira mesa blvd, near the 15 freeway, in san diego last night. ann's book was no where to be seen. but hillary's books were in the best position, at eye level, near the entrance.

consequently, i only look at barnes and noble, i do not purchase. i look and record the isbn's of books that i want and then i get them cheaper from the internet.

I'm opposed to such actions, on the basis that we're supposed to be supporting
small business and their right to do business as they choose.

Barnes and Noble, a small business?

Actually, I'm not being snippy...the "small business" bookstores, many of them of
extreme liberal bent are dying like dinosaurs.

I got to see the feminist bookstore just south of UCLA go under a couple years ago,
with much wailing and gnashing of teeth over how "the Internet killed us!".
It couldn't have been that extreme Femi-Nazism is just about so cooked we can put
a fork in it?

As for getting arrested, if I didn't have some liberal types in control of
my job position, I'd do a re-stack. About the last hing one of these
corporate giants (and their snippy liberal sales clerks) want is to
publicize that they are dealing in a commercial abridgement of free speech
and to let the general public know they are part of The Axis of Weasels.
I wouldn't be suprised if the local bookstore staff might have a person arrested
for such interference with trade...but the head office would probably not like it.

Borders and B&N allow you to return books (should you not be satisfied and within say 7-10 days and unmarked). You may wish to buy Hillary's book and return it, purchasing Ann Coulters book with the refund.

If that ticks you off, you should take a look At B&N's Leoanard Riggio's political contributions. That'll explain a lot for you :)

Ann Coulter just plugged this thread on Monica Crowley's WABC radio show out of NYC a few minutes ago.

That's why I don't agree with those who move and hide books, even Hitlery's. The best testament against her PR machine would be piles of her book, discounted, not selling, and collecting dust for all to see.

Picked up my copy of "Treason" at Costco. Up yours Hill!

I don't know. But to this day, as a result of their NAMBLA support, I will not buy books from Borders.

Phoenix MetroCenter Barnes And Noble has a prominent display stand with Ann's Book as you walk in.

It is almost empty though, as they are selling fast.

Took five minutes to find the hag's book, it was buried well below eye level, (below knee level actually) in the middle of the store. There were a few copies on display and I "decorated" the assemblage by placing a copy of a children's book, - Eva Ibbotson's "Not Just a Witch" - front and center amongst them....:-)

Just an update. I went to Borders today and I didn't see Ann's book being prominently displayed. Hillary's book is right out front, though.

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya! ;-)

In Franklin, TN, Borders had no copies and had only ordered 10 total. The clerk, when I asked for TREASON, with a straight face asked, "Is that a book?"

The same is true for the Borders in Cleveland, Ohio. I don't like going there. It gives me the creeps! Barnes and Noble is better.

I haven't gone to the bookstore in the past few weeks, but I did have this experience when I went to purchase Peggy Noonan's book, "When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan", and Barbara Olson's "Hell To Pay". I looked at Waldenbook, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. Only the Borders staff was even remotely civil, let alone helpful. At one Waldenbook, I asked for "Hell to Pay", on the bestseller list. It had just come out. I was told they had never heard of it. Author? Same thing. They offered me books by other political writers, pointing out "It Takes a Village". By now I was having some fun. I said I was interested in Barbara Olson, a conservative writer. Surely you've heard of her, I asked, as I mentioned her courage on doomed flight 93. The clerk turned icy, said I should check the list again. She was busy. I persisted - please, I've already checked the list, check on the computer, I asked. No - she had other customers to wait on! (2 clerks, two other customers). Another clerk overheard this and motioned to me, she knew where it was. The very busy, icy clerk stopped in the middle of her next sale to tell that clerk not to help me - there was a line at checkout, but the second clerk ignored her, apologized to the person next in line, and showed me one of just 2 copies buried back in New Age. I mentioned Barbara was a bestselling author and it was a new book, it should be up front on the display with all the other new books. The clerk let me in on a little secret, this was how 'these' books were treated here. She didn't like it either. And they did have other copies that sold out as fast as they came in.

I found it in a display at Borders here in Houston by the customer service desk but not in the new releases like an upfront display of Hitlery the Queen's book. Next week they had four copies of Ann's book moved back to the current events section in the back of the store but left Hitlery's book in a separate display up front.
