Man Convicted Of Murder For Torturing, Eating Roommate
Jury To Decide If Aspiring Rapper Was Sane At Time Of Crime
POSTED: 9:23 a.m. EDT June 26, 2003
COMPTON, Calif -- An aspiring rapper was convicted Wednesday of murder and aggravated mayhem in the April 2002 slaying of a woman who authorities say had her chest ripped open and one of her lungs partially eaten.
A Superior Court jury deliberated less than an hour before returning the guilty verdicts against Antron Singleton, 26. Jurors will now consider Singleton's plea of insanity at the time of the murder. Prosecutors said they are not seeking the death penalty.
The body of Tynisha Ysais, who was stabbed to death, was found in her southeast Los Angeles apartment. Authorities testified that the 21-year-old woman's chest had been cut open and her right lung, which had been removed, appeared chewed and torn.
Singleton, whose stage name was Big Lurch, was arrested after he was spotted walking naked on a street with his mouth, chest and abdomen covered in blood.
Ysais' boyfriend, Thomas Moore, testified that he and Singleton had been smoking PCP the night before the killing.

I don't want to know what you have to do to get the death penalty in California!!! Build an addition to your house near the beach.

In fairness, this is not a case of a serial killer or a man who abducts and kills a child.
I'm for legalization of drugs, but PCP can really mess a person up. I doubt that this guy would have stabbed this girl AND ate through her lung in any other circumstance, even high on crack or crank. It's of note that he did not hide his killing but was walking naked down the street with evidence of the crime all over him.
That's my guess as to why he didn't get death, because he was looned out at the time.

We must not judge members (or dismember and eat other members) of the art community. Stifling creativity is a no no, and indeniable proof that the stifler is at least an uncouth, unsoptisticated clod, and at worse a (shudder) practicing Christian, trying to force his/her civilized sanity upon a uncivilized, insane and savege world.
