Nope; just a lot of people with more experience with modern "law enforcement" than you have, your age notwithstanding. It isn't paranoia when they really are out to get you. When you've seen ATF agents with blank search warrants, cops plant evidence, government officials commit perjury and get away with it, and the political establishment deliberately keep innocent people behind bars when they know for a fact that they're innocent, you start to get a little suspicous when random government agents show up asking to "borrow" your firearms.

I hope everything works out for you; the last time a friend had a firearm confiscated (an import issue in the mid-1990s), he had to write to his Congressman before he got it back.
