Las Vegas Ranks Second in "Where Jobs Are Created"
(Las Vegas-AP) -- Las Vegas ranks second among the nation's top 20 best-performing cities in creating jobs.
That's according to a new Milken Institute report called "Where America's Jobs are Created."
It says Las Vegas has succeeded despite a slump in travel and tourism.
The index rates growth in jobs, technology, and wages and salaries over the last five years -- along with job growth over the last year.
Las Vegas ranked third a year ago.
Fayetteville, Arkansas -- home to Wal-Mart retail distribution -- jumped to first on the list from 23rd last year.
Rounding out the top five are two Florida metro areas -- Fort Myers-Cape Coral, and West Palm Beach-Boca Raton -- and San Diego.

Hey now, I post lots of postive stories, :) I for one think the economy is working it's way back. There will be job losses along the way though - take for instance the small town I live in. The Thomson/RCA plant, biggest employer here, is laying off half the people in September. Will be a big blow to this area (and last 4 companies I have worked for went bankrupt - through no fault of who was president).
