So here's what the FBI says about the capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster, who was on the lam in Mexico before a bounty hunter nicknamed "Dog" beat the FBI at its own game and collared him:

Well, one good thing for the FBI agents who failed to get Luster and were outsmarted by this bounty hunter. Their failure menas, according to tradition, they will get promoted, get awards to hang on the wall, and get the maximum annual cash bonus that the performance system will allow. Just ask the guys who tracked down and arrested Richard Jewell.

This sounds about right. One guy goes out and does the FBI's job while the FBI sits around because they can't find their asses with both hands and a flashlight. Now they're going to let him rot because he committed the worst crime of all--he embarrassed the feds that refused to put forth any real effort.

Amazing statement, since in high profile cases, they didn't catch the unibomber Ted Kaczynski, or the Oklahoma city bomber Timothy McVeigh or the accused Atlanta bomber Eric Rudolph.

McVeigh and Rudolph were caught by Barney Fife cops, and Kaczynski was turned in by his brother.

I hope they are not holding their breaths for Billy Bulger to turn in his most wanted brother Whitey Bulger. - Tom

My cousin used to be a bounty hunter. I actually helped him on one case and I've never felt the adrenalin flow like it did, but that's another story.

He told me he spotted two FBI agents (he knew them) sitting in front of a fugitive's house so he called the agent on the cell phone and said, "Anytime you see two men sitting in a car alone at night they're either cops, bounty hunters or queers. Which are you?"

Of course they didn't think that was funny. He then drove up to the car and asked "What are you waiting for? Let's go in and get him."

The agent said, "We're not sure he's inside."

My cousin responded with, "Yes, he is." I just called and he answered the phone." Then the agent wanted to know how he got the fugitive's number. My cousin said the FBI was worthless when it came to catching fugitives.

On another note, I'm pitching a script we wrote based on some of his cases. The timing is perfect for a "real" bounty hunting movie. Wish us luck.

Dog deserves the entire reward. I was surprised to see him jailed. Seemed Mexica would have offered him sanctuary, maybe even a reward for capturing a dangerous rapist.

I presume the claim that Luster's family paid Mexican officals to charge Dog is another Urban Myth.
