Comcast Cable Switches Fox News (Broward County)

I turned on the Comcast Cable this morning to watch Fox & Friends. Nothing came on. So I figured there were some technical difficulties. Then I switched back to channel 19 on my cable a little while ago. Guess what? They have some new LOCAL educational channel on there. After much searching I finally found Fox News Channel on channel 72.
What's up with that? Why is Comcast so STUPID as to replace the channel position of a popular news channel with some little-watched LOCAL educational channel.
This is making me wonder if there was some sort of (Liberal) pressure to screw up the FNC viewership by making it harder to find FNC. Why couldn't they have just made the little-watched LOCAL educational channel broadcast via channel 72 instead of pulling this big switch?

Broward Freepers please note the games that Comcast (AT&T Broadband) is playing with the Fox News Channel.

They misunderestimate the ability of FNC viewers to search the dial high and low and find the new location.

Call FOX..they'll tell you what's going on...

This is nothing to be alarmed about. Cable companies switch channels around from time to time

What might be going on is that the heavily Demmycrat Broward politicos leaned on Comcast to screw FNC by switching it to a high channel number. Everybody knows the lower numbers are much better. And look what they replaced FNC with. Some LITTLE-WATCHED local educational channel. Why couldn't they have assigned that minor educational channel to channel #72 instead of switching the popular FNC away from it?

Would one of our local FReepers contact Comcast and post their response? I would like to know their rationale.

Where do they position CNN and PMSNBC?

This is nothing to be alarmed about. Cable companies switch channels around from time to time. This switch makes NO SENSE unless you realize that heavily Demmycrat politicos here in Broward probably leaned on Comcast to make the switch. Do you think they would do that to CNN?

Cable systems frequently change their channel lineups. You've probably gotten mailers about this. There are different reasons for doing so.
1) The system is adding new channels, and wants like channels to be together. For instance, Fairfield Connecticut's Optimum Online has Fox on 67, MSNBC on 68, CNBC on 69 and CNN on 70. Also in this neighborhood are Headline News, Cspan, the Weather Channel, and a channel that has cameras from Route 95 and local weather.
2) The cable system is making new levels of access, and wants to group certain channels together, so that for instance, one level of basic gets channels 1-50, the next level 1-70 and so on.

Where do they position CNN and PMSNBC? CNN is Channel 18 and PMSNBC is Channel 58.

I know what you mean. Last month they switched my FOXNEWS from 48 to 39! Of all the nerve!

my impression of Comcast was that they are conservative friendly & I don't think channel realignment really reflects anything - my suspicion, if anything, is that they wanted to move it out to the outer bandwidth where older analog equipment sometimes limits the quality of picture for non-digital customers who'd then be ripe for pitch of an upgrade.

Few people are going to watch that dopey LOCAL education channel. Why couldn't they have assigned that channel to Channel 72?

No, it means they're putting FOX in the premium channels so you can't get it cheap any more.
To: Steven W.
They should reassign the channels. Give FNC the current CNN slot of Channel 18 and give CNN channel 72.

You may be right....normally, whenever a cablesystem reconfigures itself for technical reasons, it moves the popular channels lower...however, that's not really an issue any more...more remotes, and the new cable gizmos..have the ability to store 5-10 preferred channels...
