[history]
June 25, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein's top wartime propagandist - dubbed "Baghdad Bob" for his outlandish, lie-filled news briefings - was captured at a Baghdad roadblock, a London newspaper reported today.
Word of the capture came as six British troops were killed yesterday, in southern Iraq, the deadliest day for coalition forces since Saddam's fall.

Looks like Bob picked a bad day to get arrested.

Did Baghdad Bob even make it to the deck of cards?

>The Shiite-dominated region was deemed so tranquil lately that many
troops patrolled on bicycles, without helmets or flak jackets.
I can't believe I'm reading this. In that part of the world cooperation, keeping your word, helping out and neighborliness are seen as weakness. You start riding on bikes, the Iraqis are going to get the idea they can start shooting at you.

I, for one, hope that his trial is covered on Court TV. What a great daily reminder of how skewed this regime actually was. We can only hope that he speaks in his own defense. What a dork.

No, Baghdad Bob didn't make it on the deck of cards, but he certainly made one of the freepers top ten of misaligned fugitives. It hasn't been the same without his daily rambling versions of the war. Now the entertainment can start again.

"hope that his trial is covered on Court TV."
For what?
All he did was lie like Hell.
And considering that Saddam might have had
his family in the cellar, who can blame him?
Certainly not our own lying bastard politicians

I have no such illusions. He threatened some reporters, extorted money from them then took off.He may not be in the same league as the really bad guys, but I cut him no slack except for the great entertainment he provided at his briefings.

Would love to hear HIS "description" of his capture.

Maybe he could get a job as a body double for Helen Thomas at the White House briefings.

Reporter: Bob how does it feel to be captured by the westerners.
Bob: Captured? I am not being captured, I am going with these soldiers so they may negotiate their surrender, we will discuss the best way to roast their bellies in hell and let their blood flow like a river through the streets of Baghdad.

All he did was lie like hellAs has been said here before, he was a high ranking Iraqi official so many people had to die and be tortured for him to get there. The infatuation that many Americans have with him is really kind of sickening. It reminds me of all the stupid women who've sent Scott Peterson marriage proposals.
